here's a guitar cleaning tip

as above.. here's a guitar cleaning tip that is effective, easy, and can help you save money from buying guitar polishes.

i'm sure some of you know about using a slightly damp cloth to wipe the stubborn dirt off your guitar.. now here's the tip: instead of using tap water and wringing the cloth for dampness, you breathe a hot breath on the dirty spot for condensation, then quickly wipe the slightly damp surface with your cloth. repeat as desired. the good thing is that it's fast, easy and effective. this way, you also ensure that it's just slightly damp and not overly wet.

while we are on this topic i thought i might as well share my guitar cleaning method with you! its really cheap as well and you dont need to waste any money on liquid cleansers and what not.

you ready? ok.

so first of all you will need a piece of cloth. preferably something you don need anymore and best that it is white. make sure that you drink a lot of water in preparation for this because you are going to need it. okay so you can urinate into a container after drinking the water or directly onto the cloth. after which you use the cloth to wipe the stubborn dirt of your guitar. now here's the tip: instead of using tap water and wringing the cloth for dampness, you dip the cloth in more urine and wipe the stain until it comes off.

this works because of the slightly alkali properties in our urine with a ph value of around 8.1 if you are eating corretly. sure the smell may be disturbing but you can always get it off with deodourants.

dumb? i don't think so. it's a neat, effective little trick. don't dismiss it just because it sounds simple. if you encounter stubborn dirt that won't go away with wiping with a dry cloth, you'll be surprised how a little dampness from your breath's condensation can help clean it away.

anyway, i got to know about this tip recently through some reading, tried it and found it effective, that's why i'm sharing with you guys.

and while we're on the topic,
I clean the more stubborn gunk stuck in fret corners of my guitar neck by scraping lightly with the side of a card like an old phone card.

Great idea. But wouldn't that dissolve the lacquer and gives it a VOS look?

yup.. for removing gunk from fretboard, you can also try to rub lemon oil on it 1st, then use a toothbrush to brush it, parallel to the grains. to remove rust from frets, 1st use masking tape to tape up the wood, then use sandpaper or a metal brush to lightly and slowly rub the frets.

haha, i use windex to clean the stubborn stains on my guitar, but i suggest you use a car-polish cloth, a normal towel will leave fine scratches

anyone ever tried using sticky masking tape on the frets - then quickly remove... toclear the gunk off the frets / fretboard

windex works with removing stains on the fret-board too! makes it shiney as well
