Help! Super rusty screws

Ok guys. Here's the story. I got a BC Rich guitar. Of late, the screws which hold the pickup down start to rust. Ditto the other screws as well. Not only that. Even the humbuckers are starting to rust! Now is there a way to prevent this? I mean, the humbuckers have got the BC Rich brand on it, and i don't want to replace it. Unless they sell similar ones. I haven't seen it though. I've already applied WD40, but it's too late. I can't seem to remove the rust. Thanks!

All replies will be much appreciated!

i use Autosol to remove rust from my bicycle :D Works great.

But never try it for guitar, though. But taking out the screws and applying to them won't hurt your guitar I believe.

Dun use autosol... spoils the metal.
If is pick up screws, just buy and replace em, can get em at davis/guitar connection/guitar workshop, I presume yurs is the pick ring type?
If is your pick up, just use singer oil to wipe it, the rust should go down (altho really, rust changing sound is really a myth imho). If u wanna prevent pick up from rusting, clean it everytime u stop playing and coat it with a layer of oil (somethings from the army really helps). Goes the same for all metal parts (screws, bridge...)
Hope this helps.

Regards,

thanks guys for the tips! by the way, how much is singer oil? and where can i get it? if i'm not mistaken, it's some sewing machine oil right?

Hi velvet, I have the same problem with rusty screws as well. I'd strongly recommend that you get them changed asap before it gets too late. It'll come to a point whereby you won't be able to take the screws out once the rust gets really bad. You can try heading down to Davis and a hardware store down at Kelantan lane for screws. Hope that helps bro :)

or screws breaking inside while trying to wrench it lose :s. thanks for the kelantan lane, gonna go there and buy a lot of screws. lol.

try and see if you can get stainless steel guitar pickguard screws locally from guitar shops, if you can't then buy them online.

Change once and worry free forever.
