Hey need some help from any pros here. I got someone to record our gig few days ago and it turned out, the audio quality was totally horrible. the bass is too strong that it practically drowns out everybody. Can't really hear the bass too as it is so muffled The videocam should be able to record as we did it once in a studio and it turned out well. Is there any way to edit the audio so that the other intruments can be heard? Need some pros to advice me on this. haha. Thanks! =)

Try to EQ out the bass, and use a maximiser on the high end. Or a multiband compressor, with an expansion at the low end, and compression on the high.

But, it's likely your mic has been maxed out by the loud bass. i.e. your mic has been overloaded, and the sound is totally kaput.

yeap like what ac says, to start with your video cam is probably too close to the bass amp. or the bass amp was too loud. i haven't heard the recording you did yet but i'm sure it's quite gone case and there won't be much you can do. better luck next time or try live mixer output > videocam mic input. should sound better.

It sound like there's something wrong with the camera's mic cos the distortion is throughout the whole song!

To troubleshoot, simply point the camera at a radio set and record. Playback and listen if there's distortion.

Btw, what camera is that?

oh i think the distortion is due to the bass muffling the whole audio recording. haha. i m not sure what camera but its a videocam. some no brand china made one. haha.

Hmm yeah it's pretty bad. First try and grab unwanted noise, profile it, and then filter it. After that apply a lowpass filter, then EQ 2dB off < 250Hz in increasing order (2 -> 3 -> 4 -> 5). Hah.

If the source is already bad, nothing much to do.

yeap, like I guessed/imagined, the whole BZZZ distortion gone case sound. pretty impossible to fix anything.
the videocam is too close to the amp thats causing the buzz. and if you film from too far ,i'm guessing you wouldn't be able to see anything heheh.

I've got an idea! What about posting that clip here in SOFT and have a challenge to see which SOFTie can audio engineer it to give the best possible quality?

People can then share how they did it - and perhaps we can all learn something.

THAT'S AN AWESOME IDEA CHEEZE!! haha alright i'll try upload it asap. hmm any idea how do i post a link for u guys to download the raw file? hehe. i m noob at this man.
