Help on Pearl Rhythm Traveller and other good compact drum sets

Hi,

I have my eye on a Pearl Rhythm traveller as I have space constraints. I wanna ask those who have a set to help me out by measuring the square area it will occupy so I can gauge if my room has the space for it.

On a side note, are there any other good compact sets available - maybe the tama stagestar? Currently the Rhythm traveller is going for $650. Is pearl or tama a good brand?

Thank you.

Having tried the tama stagestar, i can probably say that it is a fairly good set, which sounds pretty good for a low-end kit. However, my cousin got his for around $500 at a sale a long while ago, im not sure how much they go for now.

My impression of the rhythm traveller is pretty good too, extremely compact and mobile, and it comes with changeable mesh heads that reduce volume by a whole lot, which is good esp if you have neighbours who complain much. and it fits into smaller areas too. Oh but the thing is, there are many secondhand drumsets, especially pearl rhythm travellers, which can be had on soft for as little as $250-$300 recently. these would be good if you're on a tight budget or want to buy something else, and it's really much better than the prices firsthand, just make sure you buy from a genuine seller haha.

I suggest going to try both and see which is better for your needs? things like space constraints, volume constraints and budget etc. If im not wrong, sweelee carries both the tama stagestar and pearl rhythm traveller, although both are considerably overpriced. maybe wait for one of their sales which you can be notified of via their facebook. And while I personally do not really like pearl stuff, both pearl and tama are pretty established drum brands.

Hey man,

Thanks for the reply. Just wondering if you know how big your set is in square area? And also why do alot of people on the forums recommend a 2nd hand set?

Becos they are generally lower in price and if the condition is good, u get a good buy. Also try Trap drums, they are really portable.
