Help needed on pedal choices.

hey TS!

seems like you're in the exact situation as i am, using a zoom g2.1u, and thinking of getting stompboxes soon.
but after reading madwerewolfboy's long and informative reply, i'm having second thoughts. ;(

have got the intentions to fund for a small tube amp + cab too.
any input on what i should do?

Try BOSS Digital Delay DD3 or DD7, nice tone+delay
what is meant by nice tone in the context of a digital delay pedal? i've never tried these two pedals but i didn't expect them to actually shape the original tone in anyway

retseh:

a lot of people seem to be recommending the blackstar ht-5 mini stack. i've did a little bit of research on low wattage tube amps (reading up more on blackheart, vox, orange, marshall and blackstar) i've come to the conclusion, based on specs / paper alone, the blackstar ht-5 is the most versatile tube amp out there. however, it is a little pricey compared to the vox (but the capabilities of the vox is much limited).

check it out here: http://www.blackstaramps.co.uk/products/ht-5/ht-5s.html
and the local dealers for them is Woodworkz Sound Engineering http://www.woodworkz.com.sg/

madwerewolfboy: yeah i've been reading up abit on low wattage tube amps too. blackheart little giant doesnt seem too bad considering that its cheaper, but i guess will have to be more dependent on OD/dist pedals since it doesnt come with a footswitch like the ht5.
what do you think? ;)

the bh5h is good, but i personally like amps with more knobs for versatility's sake. one win point when it comes to the 5watter blackheart vs blackstar is that the blackstar has a parallel effects loop whereas the blackheart doesn't. it matters if we want the tube's distortion to come in before your mods and delays, it doesn't if we wanna rely on stompboxes for distortions. but then again, what's the low watt tube amp for again? ^_^

ah makes alot of sense!
for noobs like me the effects loop wont matter as much (YET) since i just wanna meddle around in tube territories.
but for information sake, is there any alternatives to still go around the effects loop thing? besides dist/od pedals.

nah don't say that, there's always a first time for everybody. there are pro people with cheap gear and there are not-so-pro people with uber expensive gear.

sorry, i didn't catch what you mean by that go around the effects loop question. maybe you misread what i meant in my previous post?

haha i meant to ask if there's any other way to still place an amp's dist before any mods/delays even if there's no effects loop function in that particular amp.
ah, is that more understandable? :)

i think that's not possible unless you apply the effects on the miked signal of the amp. but then that's a different setup all together for live performance / studio recording

hahahah maybe i'll understand that better 10 years later when i get more pro.
thanks for helping me (and possibly other softies) on making more informed choices!

well, you could try! i tried before with the marshall-solid-state-of-sucks at home and it worked.
