Heya peeps,

Does anyone here know how to record audio files from a keyboard into a computer? Is there anything I need?

Next, is anyone of you guys here out there that use Cakewalk? I don't understand some stuff about it...how do i convert the midi files into audio files in Cakewalk?

Can anyone out there pls help me?

Thanks

zilchster81, you just need a audio cable to connect your keyboard output to the Line In of your computer soundcard. then in Cakewalk, enable Audio recording on the track.

Does anyone out there use Cakewalk Express Gold to record their stuff? I still dunno trying to convert my midi files to audio in cakewalk.

Can anyone out there help me with Cakewalk?

Hi, read your "plight" about recording with Cakewalk.
What version of Cakewalk are you using? If it's anything from Home Studio 2004, it should be very easy to do!

there's 2 ways we're talking about here.

like the 1st mentioned : keyboard > line out (either from outputs or headphones whatever) > soundcard/PC

2ndly : via MIDI. i can't answer this. haha. I know vaguely it's somethin to do with keyboard > midi out > soundcard > DAW > use module to trigger off notes/samples > .wav

Bro,

i think you need to be more clear on your question.

Are you trying to convert all your MIDI tracks done in Cakewalk to Audio or are you trying to record sound/audio to cakewalk tracks?

It is 2 different issues.

If you are trying to record sound, i think James (soft) has answered your question. If you are trying to convert MIDI to audio then it is another thing altogether

If using an external sound module / keyboard, then you still need a way to connect the output of your module to input of computer. This can be via soundcard or other interfaces. After that, Just create an audio track in cakewalk and route the input correctly (select the input where you connected module to). Arm the audio track and record. Once done, you have the audio version of the MIDI track.

If using internal soundcard / plug-in sounds, even easier. Just create a new audio track and route the input correctly (select input to be fed from your plugin output buss) Do the same as above and your have it done

hope this helps

Robin
