its a bit hard to say what kinda pedals you will need but here's just a simple list that i would need if i were to play rhythm. this is a budget list. simple and nothing too expensive.

boss ce5 , EHX holy grail
line 6 echopark
boss cs3
and a 1 spot adaptor
then again, it comes down to personal preferrence and the kind of music you'll be playing.

hi aikelman, a rhythm guitarist playing alt rock? all i can think of is a distortion pedal only. haha.
perhaps, u may wanna give an example of a sound you are trying to achieve? and we'll work from there.

Well, alternative rock rhythms mainly only need distortion pedals lah. The delay and chorus is for spacy clean tones that are used on alt. rock rhythms as well.
