Help: Guitar input jack *urgent*

Hi guys, need some help with my guitar input jack.

Problem: Guitar doesn't give out any sound at times. I need to twist and turn the cable head connected to my input jack for a few times before i get the sound back on. It's really irritating especially when you have an upcoming performance pretty soon. I just bought the guitar from G77 and was told that they'll change the input jack to switch craft (i think that's the brand name) before I pay for it. So is it really the input jack?

Additional Info:
Guitar type is an MIJ Ibanez RG Tremolo Type
Cable being used is planet waves; hasn't given me any problems thus far

Appreciated any help / advice given. Thanks :)

to make sure its not the cable that is spoilt, try using other cables,
btw it might be due to loose connections at the input jack or the input jack is faulty or just spoilt.. check out all the possibilities one by one and slowly solve or if still cannot, bring it back to guitar77 and ask them help u check

was the switchcraft already installed or did they change it before u bought the guitar?

Thanks man, I've tried using the same cable on my friend's guitar. Doesn't give any problems, so shouldn't be the cable right? I bargained for a better price before purchasing the guitar as I detected a faulty input jack. Was told that they'll change it for me to switchcraft but price stays the same. So yea, paid for the price and got the guitar.

I'll try and switch the cables instead this time to narrow down the possibilities, thanks a lot man :)

Hey

have u isolated the problem?
confirm cables problem? perhaps u try once more wid a different cable...

also is the jack loose? (eg, jack acme abit unscrewed)

I had this bad experience :

jack came loose, sound was intermittent..
so i kept turning to get sound of of my guitar.

I kept doin this process everytime i plug in the cable into the jack....

ONE FINE DAY, no sound seems to be coming out even though i kep turning and tightening the jack, my dad help me to inspect ( he's a guitarist as well ^_^ )and found out that; all the while, the soldering of wire to the jack wasn't good enough.
PLUS, i kept twisting the jack which RESULTED IN the wiring being snapped off.

IN the end had to resolder the wire. LOL!

so, juz in case, open up your guitar to see whether it is cable of solderinf problem.

hope this helps. (:

Many thanks bro. I had the same problem with my previous guitar too. Haha, had to re-solder the thing in the end and insulate it properly. Haven't open up the jack for this guitar though. Yes, I know I should.. but been too busy to inspect lately. Ok, I better check the damn thing tonight. Cheers!

Yep, input jack is tightened and contact spray is used to maintain once a month. I've isolated the problem however. Many thanks to all of you :)
