1.
u need to do yr recording in sequencer mode.
as for how to do it, u can check the manual or www.korgforums.com or www.tritonheaven.com( look under triton le)
TR is simply a black triton le with sd card and a few(less than 20 ) improved patches. the 'expanded wave form memory" doesnt mean much( to me lar)

2.the SD card is for u to save yr recordings done in the sequencer mode.
better yet, u can download cool programs and combis , save to yr sd card, and load them into yr TR.

and even better yet, the sd card and sequencer serves as a midi player.
with the abundance of midis in the net, u can DL almost any popular songs and play them via the TR.
they may sound dry and cheesy but u just have to change them into yr desired patches, add the effects and save them as .sng instead of midi.

i can only offer some directions for exploration. its such a powerful workstation, u reali need to sit down and dig into it.
after more than 1 year with it, i;m still exploring.:) :P

limitations and how to overcome them

theres my 2 cents worth for those just starting out on the le /TR.

old birds prob noe by now, pls bear with my 2 cents.. :P but i had no one to guide me when i got the le , so i tot i'd share some quickies on the limitations of this synth.

1.only one empty sot is availabe to create yr own combi.
to create more combis, we need to overwrite the existing default combis.
morover, combi mode allows only max 8 channels(layers of sounds)

simply load yr sd/smart media card and create yr own combi in sequencer mode. to into the menu and change the midi channels accordingly.
better yet, u get 16 tracks to play around wif instead of 8.

2.no sampling option in tr/le unless thr upgrade is bought.
the tr/le is able to play wav files in sequencer mode. meaning u can load wav files without spending $!

imagine getting yr vocalist to record watever into wav format, and playing it with yr tr/le. the possibilities are endless.

I wouldn't call a lack of sampling function a limitation at all. Most keyboards do not have it. If one has it, it is a bonus. If one doesn't have it, it's just the norm.
