Hi guys, been around for ages but haven't been posting much until recently when I suddenly remembered my password...heh... anyway,
I'm looking to replace the Lo Trs bridge on my ibanez RG470, does anyone have any experience in picking and choosing the right bridge that can go on that, or at least can point me to a shop that can help me find something like that? Thanks for any replies in advance :)

the holy grail of trem bridges acorrdin to many people is the ibanez edge, im not veri sure whether it can fit into ur rg 470, might need some routin.u can go down to sweelee and order tot. get the part no. from the ibanez website. a new piece cost abt 320dollars. or if u can find a gotoh u could get tat. its a direct fit for the trs i heard. and its cheaper too.

Get a gotoh, its a direct retrofit.

A brand new Edge trem costs a LOT. But its easily one of the smoothest floyd rose type trems out there.

shred ..what abt the trempost..
would you extract out the old one (the trs) or just fixed the gotoh trem in..??

i`ve fixed one gotoh that way ..coz kinda lazy to extract the threaded trem post..actually dunno how to extract it out..im afraid that i might disfigured the already drilled hole..

what are your comments ...thks .

You can just use the TRS posts with the Gotoh lah.. but hai... like... not complete hor? And the Gotoh's has locking posts!

I am not sure of the "correct" method but a fellow on Jemsite DIY-ed.

He did this.

Using padding/cloth and what not to protech your guitar.

He used the claw of a hammer to pull out the trem post.

Since this method would result in a more angled pull out the more you pull (you want to pull out the trem post in a 90 degree angle but using hammer claw you go from 90 degrees and the more u pull, the angle starts to increase > 90 degrees) what he did was to add layers of wood/hard stuff below the hammer so as to maintain an as-close-to-90-degree angle as possible.

Then he merely hammered in his new OFR post holder then there.

I'm not sure you can hammer in the Gotoh post into a TRS post - the Gotoh post is large!

Assuming that i use my old trs posts with the new bridge, it should work fine? Am I looking for any specific bridge model or will any one of them fit?

On a sidenote, no shops in s'pore carry the gotoh bridges....rite? (correct me if i'm wrong) So, well, which online sites do you guys recommend for getting one? And the other thing is, I've been trying to find Gotoh's official website, but it doesn't seem to come up on google at all. Anyone got any ideas?

thanks a mill' guys, you've been real helpful:) Happy New Year everyone, hope you saw the fireworks from wherever you were...

Hi guys, just thought i should post an update her.

I've only recently just got a replacement bridge for the said guitar, and it is fantastic! Sustain is great, looks great, and sounds great too. It does make a difference, and worth the 5 weeks wait and the two hundred odd dollars I paid for it. The only sad thing is that i can't use the tuner lockers because they didn't supply screws for it and the current screws i have didn't fit, and the trem posts wouldn't fit without a larger hole either, but oh well.

Thanks for your input, everyone. I know it's a little late, but better than never:)

ups to this thread cos i oso have rg 470. which guitar tech did u go to to replace the bridge and which webby u order from?
