theunknown: lol sounds fishy. toshiba com suddenly asks for bios password. call toshiba up to ask they say reset password must pay.. lol, can you enter the bios settings page btw? if yes, best is to try to select the restore default settings and save and exit. see if it helps!
K2desoog: how is the "free" ram free when the shop is charging you for it? best is to buy a original oem copy of what ever os you have
for me, it's very straight forward when it comes to original software. i will get one copy of an oem os, oem office, norton antivirus student edition and norton ghost. these 4 software, usually amount to about $300+ will save me a lot of hassle for all my computer problems. i install all four, then make a backup image with norton ghost and save it on my portable drives. now, every time i encounter a problem, or if my pc is too congested, i just needa run the image and the computer is restored to original clean state in five minutes! and it applies to all 4 computers i have. how convenient, diy ftw!
The 35 bucks is for diagnostics & a CMOS battery.
And i know for a fact that some places DO NOT charge for diagnostics.
I do have the OEM CD. Thats how I managed to bring her back up to 80% working condition (now I gotta prblm with both CD-rom drives .... arrgh)
So yeah, I believe we were given a lousy deal and taken for a ride..... but well, lesson learnt.
yeah, no surprise because simlim square is notorious for that amongst people who know the place well. glad you didn't budge, now you know.. DIY ftw!! haha
