have you met this kind of buyer before?

Cheesepie, got people so patient and trusting meh?

Wah, I really admire leh!

It's not as if the 'buyer' has deposited some money with you and that you have all the time in the world to wait around for him to finally appear and transact.

If it was me, I'd gladly post his nick and number here for everybody's benefit.

And if I were you and he finally calls you and says that he's at your doorstep after tua-ing you so many times - I'd just fark him upside down and say "NO AMP FOR YOU, FARKER!!".

If he can do it to you, he can do it to a lot of other SOFTies.

=bedokkids

This is a totally different case.. It's just lowballing dude.. Happens all the time..

And threadstarter, to avoid any racism.. There's no need to say that the buyer is a Malay..
Does it make a diff if he's Chinese/Indian/etc?

my tried and tested method : "Not first come first serve, first buy first GET!" (first who pays, will be the first who I hand it to".)

and always either do delivery (to the guy's house) so if he screws you over, you can hang pig head. or do it at your place (self collect) to show that you're not a bogus seller, you screw him over he can hang your pig head.

by doing a "no reserve/no instalment" policy, yes it's true that ANYBODY can shortcut and get the item.. but that's none of your business! then they should : ACT FAST a.k.a Mai Tu Liao. your only concern is to sell off the stuff and upgrade / splurge on good stuff etc.unless it's your long time friends for 10 years , last time small kid share underwear kind of buddy, then yes you can reserve. otherwise, cruel world bro.. dog eat dog.

so if they got excuses? no money? go borrow from your friend or parents, i not your father. i can't "make it cheaper for you" or "i not bank/credit card company, no instalment".

no time? then don't buy lor. and oh guess what, every singaporean has no time, you as the seller just committed just as much time for the buyer, so it's only fair that the buyer sets the same amount if not more time and more sincerity to get the stuff from you.

wow. i love his style.

whoever can pay the full amount of cash to me gets the item first

the whole reservation/installation payment is too dodgy for me

=godspeed : its not that I'm being rasist or so.
I'm just posting it to ask softies to take note.
I'm sorry if I have offend anyone.

=clement : one for one trade for the bag?
I delivery to your house.

=hecklerhock : my mum taught me that patient which people is a good habbit.
there are also nice guy in the world too. Is just that I trusted the wrong guy.

Just my 2 cent.

here's an example of one of my past transactions from luthermusic classifieds (the problem with anonymous buyers) :
long long time ago...
a CHINESE guy said "amp for $160 ok , ok" , come down to my place (like I said deal at my place or I deliver, he wanted to "meet up somewhere" i told him I only meet up with chiobus.)
he tested, I tested , highly assured stable. he suddenly lowballed "$80"
"nope,you can go home now"
"ok ok $100?"
"we already agreed on $160."
"but I came down all the way from tuas to katong, cheaper la"
"I drive, I provided +$10 with delivery, but you decided to save the $10 and come down all the way yourself."
"what if the amp breaks down by the time I bring back?"
"then you gotta be careful of how you brought it back, amps are not shock proof or waterproof."
"what if I careful and I play only after a while break down?"
"you wanna play and test it now sommore? it's a sunday I got time."
"then break down after I bring it back leh?"
"tell you what, I got a videocam, tripod and a computer capable of firewire capture. I'll leave the amp on now until for another 3 days nonstop for surveillance and I'll see you in 3 days and I can assure you it will still be running. but I'll want $60 deposit."
"like that no point what! I gotta travel back to here (katong) from tuas again"
"ya lor I agree. if it costs you $10 to come here today, and back another $10, then 3 days later another $10+$10. then plus $160. then plus all the time you wasted, that's almost paying $200 for this amp. i'm not wasting time. i'm at home. i'm fine one. tell you what either you go with $160+$10x4 and I "video-cam" test it for you, or you take this for $160 now and don't negotiate any further as i got other buyers wanting to reserve but I don't do reserve, OR you leave now and you waste $20 + a couple of hours of your time. you do the calculation."

the deal was done, but before he left he said "you're really hard to bargain a deal with" , I replied : "yeap, i go simlim square all the time and I see your lines being used by other lousy bargainers , doesn't work".

---

that aside, I'll be damn right to tell everyone of you guys that whether you're a buyer or seller, you'll give/get the best from the buyer/seller if you show sincerity in your deal. one of my lines always work when I negotiate for lets say.. from a shop, and I always ask "is it possible to make it cheaper? no need damn cheap or what , you all also need to earn." usually they'll tell you "err no cannot very cheap already" interrupt them : "oh then it's ok no problem. no obligation. just asking only =)" , the ones who are more soft hearted at this point will usually say "ok hang on ah, I see what I can do.. (starts calculating)" , or some who are more subtle will just key in and charge you the wrong but cheaper price , I kena before I was like "har? I thought it's *more*" , "I give you discount mah! dowan is it?" remember to be grateful.
sometimes it's not just the price tag discounts but the after-sales service, they tend to remember you. and that can cover your butt in alot of things whether is it further discounts for other stuff or if you are "WTB" any item or "WTS" anything they'll casually help ask around.
you don't have to be best friends to meet up everyday for this kind of thing, you don't have to be a two headed snake to advance in life (sincere ppl know how to detect snakes) , it's about the whole "positive buy/sell salesmanship" to make it a better experience.

just follow the necessary pointers to avoid crap experience like "no reserve/no ridiculous lowballing"

i kinda go for the person who deals first nowadays. used to have the reservation mindset, but for one of my items, potential buyers just keep backing out days before the sale, consecutively, and i lost many better offers.

^^ nice one blueprintstudios. lol.

maybe i can learn bargaining and anti-bargaining tips from you now.

but however. For this case.
he say he is coming down to get. Not really reserve also.
in another words he is coming down to buy.

However with the case of reserving.
there are also people who showed their promises when they reserve.

In the end, it all depends on the luck of the buyer and seller.

haha! specially trained.

but thats the minimum trust between buyers and sellers.
its ok that he or she come down then tested.
dont like it then dont buy.
cause its the buyers right.

but not those people who put 'airplane'.
i have learn my lesson.
i will be lesser patient.

i'm still a nice guy.
dont run away from me.

=D

I still say 1st come, first serve (1st dude to put $$$ in y hands) is the best policy when dealing with internet based 2nd hand stuff.

Hahaha!!! That's a bloody cool way to handle these types of characters!

From S$160 - S$80, he called it bargaining?!

Gosh!!

His skin must've been as thick as his skull!

=ballons: put up to?

seriously the FireWire camera way is too cool.
Cant I borrow your cam to do so?
Haha.

haha but firewire DV AVI takes up 13gigabyte per hour. a cheaper alternative would be a USB webcam recording surveillance now. i didn't have a webcam back then.

anyway the rule is simple, I is mirror on the wall, you difficult, I mirror your difficult character but i'm worse because there's no use negotiating (let alone) talking to a "wall" that doesn't listen and worse, echoes back your nonsense.

you sincere, i sincere. you fly my kite, I take note of your email and number, I re-advertise same item for sale at ridiculous price under a fake alias for you contact me again and I'll have fun flying your kite the next time. although there's no reason to resort to all these cos 90% of the softies are nice ppl. I dealt with someone from yahooauction before, from recognising my music related email address, he said something quite interesting upon dealing "most musicians are nice and reliable ppl". I think this public impression shouldn't be tarnished.

99cents worth

Power la. Mine only take in one day then no space liao.
but in soft I believed people are nice.
However the fly kite method damn zai.
must learn.
haha.

stuck that fella's ear to your amp and max the volume. throw in the distortion and shred all the way till he go deaf la.
