Hartke Bass Attack

Hello guys and girls. I'm thinking of getting a DI unit, specifically the Hartke Bass Attack. I'd like a bass tone that's phat as well as something that offers the controlled dynamics of a Limiter Enhancer.

The thing is, I already have a limiter enhancer and I'm unsure if buying the DI unit would only serve as an additional load on my pedalboard.

Oh yes, I'm playing a Swing Bass (ash body) with j pickups through a limiter enhancer, eq unit and a fuzz. Amp's a cheap unit.

Hope this is clear enough.

The Hartke VXL doesn't really do peak limiting.

If you leave your EQ on full-time then the VXL+EQ would be a bit redundant. But otherwise, they'd both still be useful, cause part of the VXL's EQ circuit can't be disengaged, there's no bypass on the... bass and treble knobs I think. The 'ON' switch only controls the 'harmonics' and 'brite' knobs, which are blended in with your "dry" signal (dry, but still unavoidably affected by the bass and treble controls cause they can't be bypassed) by the 'mix' knob. The 'SHAPE' switch controls only the in-built eq shape, which is controlled only by the 'SHAPE' knob.

I got the Hartke.

Regarding the EQ, it cannot be disengaged but if you set it at 12 o clock, it is as good as bypass.

Not sure if that would help...?
