Hi everyone, let's discuss which handphone camera provide the best camera experience when taking photos or videos in gigs.

Please provide details of phone specs and if possible, post some pics of gigs you took with that handphone camera.

Got the idea of starting this thread when I saw Sistic's rule on Paramore's gig . .

its just a handphone camera, don't expect much. poor lighting, and most importantly, the loudness of the PA will screw the audio recording to the point of distortion. at the risk of giving the security an excuse to kick your ass.

Even digi cam also cant?
For me, the best camera handphone to take video, is a good quality sounds. And an average video quality. Normally, a handphone has crappy sound.

hope to hear more from the rest. Iphone? Blackberry?

and also from Nokia and Sony E owners... Not really touching on video quality topic here, but rather the picture quality.. Heard that the LG 8MP model (forgot what model) is quite good in taking pics. . .

Unless you are standing right in front of the stage, the subject will be pretty small in the pix? Cos these phone-cam dont have much zoom right?

I have a Nokia N85, never managed to take proper pix during gigs/concerts.

I never understood the point of having a handphone camera at a gig. why ruin great memories by replacing them with a small 3gp file that has bad audio and video?

I'd vote for Sony Ericsson cybershot phones. They're actually not bad. I still prefer a digicam as much as possible though. That's applying to photos, of course.

^ This a million times.

It has to be more fun enjoying a gig looking through a HUGE 1 inch screen than looking at it with your own eyes, right?

We are paying good money to watch and enjoy a concert, yet some would rather stand still and hold a handphone up? Wow.

A handphone is a poor device in terms of recording.

I used my phone ( N78 ) to record Inch Chua's performance at Baybeats earlier this year, and while the video and audio were relatively okay, they were still... well... just okay. Nothing too fantastic. And this was while she was in the library.

I doubt you'll get anything from a handphone, unless you're near the stage, which would probably end up as a mosh pit, thus denying you the chance to record or capture anything without the shakiness and the blur images

lousy quality recording of the artist we like and enjoy only destroy the energy and majik they shared with us in a live performance. Especially for those who have not witness it in a live context.

As much as we love to keep a physical copy of what we felt and seen in a live concert, imho, its better to remember the great time in our mind and heart then to watch it again where the source of recording is bad, visual and sound wise.
