Guitar set up: Davis, Beez, Mike or others?

I'm completely new to taking my guitar to a luthier and having them set up my guitar for me. Any tips on who I should for and what I should take note of? Would really appreciate some feedback on this.

On a side note, how much does it usually cost to restring and set up a Floyd Rose guitar?

Skip Davis... Guitar set-ups is not what they are known for.

Go wif Beez or Mike or if its not too far out for you. Can look for SeekZ from Sound Alchemy Music, he set-up my guitar for 40 bucks with strings! Not sure about flyod rose though mite be more exx

I recommend Beez. A good and funny luthier who gives u the bang for bucks kinda setup.

He might throw in a couple of blues shredding lessons in between, FOC!!

Hey DB, didn't know you were in the forums too. 8 Gibbys.. not forgetting your mandolin?

Most of them are pretty ok....Kelvin and Beez have set up my instruments before.

My favourite is Goose though....cos his setups are practical and his internal wiring is really top-notch.

used to go east coast but no more. cos i think practical nothing is done to my guitar in term of action adjustment with repeated asking

my vote goes to KC and MT.

Anyone knows the price roughly for the set up of a Floyd Rose? Like an estimation so I can look out for it? Can I bring my own strings? Beez said he'll include the strings, but I've always been using Ernie Ball strings.

I say Beez as well. I'm not sure if this is standard but he gave me a one month warranty on my guitar set up. So basically if I decide that I want something different (action lower/higher, etc..) I can go back within a month and he'll re do it. But you can't decide to change string gauge or tuning on a floyd rose for obvious reasons. And he's a really nice guy.

Haha this is easy, my vote goes to beez (he's been setting up my axes for 10 years and ongoing) and goose, 2 great guys and treat their customers very well! I am sure that the other luthiers like mike, malcolm and KC are great too, just that i havent tried their services yet. Cheers!

I had my guitars set up by Beez and Kelvin. Great job by both of them, though Beez was more... economical. =P I haven't tried Mike's service yet, but many people seem to recommend him eh?
