guitar problem.

Hi everyone, recently i bought this 2nd hand guitar. It's a Hamer CX2. it sounds awesome clean. But when i kick in the metal zone,it becomes really loud forcing me have to turn down the " level " knob lower so that the volume will be the same on both clean and when the pedal is on. But when the volume is already equal, the distortion sound from the metal zone is isn't that heavy anymore(due to the lowering of the "level" knob). should i change the pickup? what do you guitar gods suggest? (:

Nothing to do with your guitar or anything..

Some pedals, the MT-2 for instance, NEEDS to be played loud to sound good.. You just need some time finding the correct volume..

Say, some people like their drives to be at unity with the clean volume, some want them to be drastically different.. So if you want them to be at unity, but want to retain the same level of rawness, turn your amp's volume up!

Is there any other pedals that you're using besides the Metal zone? Like for instance volume pedal itself. If it's volume pedal that goes along with it you should place the volume pedal before the metal zone that is from amp to volume pedal and then your metal zone and then guitar. If you place the volume pedal after the metal zone, you will definitely have changes in the distortion effect.

But if you are using only metal zone alone, that should not be the case. Turning down or up the level is just about the volume. Your distortion knob is set as what you require. If you face problem with the level that's affecting the distortion level, you may want to have a check on your metal zone pedal for servicing.

Its just wat we call a volume bump. Very common with metal type distortion pedals. Nothing you can do about it. Its meant to be that way...

Anyway if you're playing metal, WHY AREN'T YOU PLAYING IT LOUD?!?!?!

hey, learn to tweak ur metalzone properly..
the problem shouldnt lie in ur guitar, just set ur amp to a nice clean and play around with ur metalzone, u will get used to its tone soon.. its a really hard to use pedal

thanks everyone for ur advices. but if i were to turn up the volume of the amp,the pedal volume will be high too! and it'll sound funny when i switch it to clean,as both volumes are different ):

hey, try setting ur amp to a high clean, then set the volume lower on the mt2 and increase the mids(the smaller knob)... then try again, see if this helps..

Either turn down your Metal Zone's volume or get used to it. I deal with my Metal Muff's volume bump by using an EMG afterburner for cleans, if I ever have to do that shit live, the afterburner will amp up the sensitivity and thus the volume of the cleans, push the pot back in to shut the afterburner up and engage the distortion. Other than that, the only goddamn time I use clean is for doing drills and scales.

The metalzone, stock has like ZERO mids. Even if you dial up the mids on it all the way, the mids are still scooped...Hence the reason why it does not sound natural when switching from clean to dirt and vice versa.

One solution would be to get a compressor to even things out for cleans and dirt....or get your metalzone modded.

The metalzone has an inherent scoop. . I have one too. I'm gonna get it modded. The reanimation mod. I have the same problem too. Cos if I lower the volume on my mt-2, it wouldn't sound as good as when played on a higher volume. So I guess you could get it modded, or just leave it be and bear with the softer cleans. The metalzone can sound pretty good with an SD-1 and an EQ

heh thats the one reason i like about MT2 stock. thin sounding with a big CHUGG.

Trust me, my other guitarist used one and it sounded like white noise when turned up live and loud. At jamming room and bedroom volumes still ok....

After he got his modded, the sound was much CLEARER and fuller. More dynamics also...unless if you want your tele, sg and everything to sound the same, then well good for you.
