From the replies of people who seem to be indifferent about the thread's initial purpose, I reckon that there're some here who think that this whole gloves thing is a joke...
My views are similar but not that extreme though. Gloves impede your playing in one way or another and they make your already sweaty palms sweat more. If we're claiming to sweat as much was we are (until sweat flows down our fingers (which imo will not happen unless you're playing with your hands over the fretboard)), how much sweat can gloves absorb? Wouldn't our whole hand be soaked in an irritating damp piece of cloth (which we think would save us from difficulty in SLIDING our palms up and down necks?)
What's more logical and practical for me is, if while performing on stage, sweaty palms, just wipe hands on shirt, pants, towel, handkerchief.
If that's too practical, maybe we'd like to try the surgical method which involves operation on some nerves that prevent us from ever excreting sweat from chest level up.
Not fashionable enough? get those black leather gloves with lots of holes and chain blings for some fashion therapy. If people ask me why I wear them, I'll say I have sweaty palms! I'll definitely be entertaining quite a bunch of people...
