Guitar for a newbie?

Better to wait and get something you really like instead of buying the GSA on impulse and regretting the purchase 2 months later.

i'd recommand you'd get a stratocaster... a mexican one... maybe 500 can buy? anyways, a stratocaster can last you your whole lifetime...

Before anyone starts saying the mexican strats are inferior to the jap and american ones, they aren't.

Thanks :partyman:

seriously la... just get a jap one brand new..you cant go wrong.

USA , MEX and MIJ truly have their differences.
made in usa is still top and a step down is MIJ.

only tried a few mex ones and i wasnt gonna spend money on it.
JAP = value for money.

If you decide on them, try ALL, on neutral ground. Disregard the "this is better, that is better" bullshit :)

Guitars

hmm... been waiting for quite a long time. but swee lee still doesn't have stock for the sa120 and it won't be coming in for "a few months time".

deciding to go for alternatives...
- sa160 : discontinued but is it still in stock... where can i find it?
- sa260 :
- gsa60 : seems decent enough for a beginner
- RGs : instructor recommended... more frets. but are there any around less than $500? what's the difference with the GRGs?

i saw some second-hand sa160s but what should i lookout for when getting second hand guitars?

sorry for the many qns.. i still very n00b

heyy anyone has expierenced with behringer v-tone starter pak? its original price is bout 200 plus but i noe of a shop that's selling for onli 128bucks
which is abit retard but then if its reasonably good, i might go for it cuz i'm still a beginner and my budget is not very high

i'm never keen on starter pack.. really... jacinth, if ur budget is not that high, go to davis guitar, u will find some good guitars that fit ur budget =) otherwise, i'll sugg u save up alittle more for a reasonably good guitar, that way u dun have to "upgrade".

RG321MH. List price is $600, after discount you can get it at roughly $550? Really good guitar. You can't go wrong, it's not a budget model. Just a solid guitar with lesser features than normal (fixed bridge).

for me, i would buy the starter pack because it's damn cheap. the behringer is not that bad, but not very good so. it's average la, or to say, the low end ones. but it's good to try out at first because $128 is real cheap so next time when u progress, like after a few years, u can upgrade amp and guitar.

on the other hand, if u save up for an ex one, then u suddenly dunno why stop playing, u waste a lot of money. that's wat happened to my friend, bought a fender, dunno how to play, lost interest, no time, so it's rotting there. (rich wat my friend)

lol hahaha ya i tried it out the other day...the amp was not as bad i thot it would be hahas i tried it with an effects machine zoom G2 ...it still sounded good but then the guitar didnt not seem like the reliable type hahas it seemed the type of guitar where u bring it around for a few times and then it all starts falling into pieces...i think its more of a bedroom guitar type..like for practice or smth lol

yes so the more u practise the better u get, then after a while, save up more for a better one! then u can start gigging

Re: Cost?

Since you have been waiting the SA120 for the past two months, why dont you just wait another month. Its worth the wait for something you really like.

Anyone heard of the guitar brand SUZUKI? rather cheap. In terms of quality, clueless.

Saw it when i was there to test the KUSTOM TUBE 12 amp.

For those who are curious,
the address is

no.1 Rochor Canal Road
#03-40 SIM LIM Square

For GSA60, heard that the tremolo bridge always
cut off your strings when use. You really have to double confirm
on this if you are thinking of getting it. ok

Hope this help.
