Guitar feedback in jamming studios

Whenever I'm jamming in a studio with my band, I realise there would be alot of feedback when I switch on my pedal.

Anyone knows why is this so? There won't be any when the distortion pedel isn't switched on... Please tell me how to solve it if possible.

Thanks! :D

If it's a high pitched squeal it usually means your pickups are microphonic. You can try using less gain or otherwise new pickups or wax potting the ones you have.

if you are playing with high gain,
then it's the stock pickups giving fault.

change it to high gain pickups and there wont be any pitching.
That works for me.

Oh, so it's the problem with the pickups? What does wax potting means?

And can you give me some examples of high gain pickups?

I'm using Ibanez SA120 fyi... Nothing is changed yet...

sounds like a case of too much gain. are u dialing in too much gain on your pedal? what pedal is it by the way?

potting pickups really works !!

i once had a problem like u did too.. there will be squeelling when i paused during a riff or sumthing when my effect are turn on.. den decide to pot my pickup myself.. and wow, all the squeeling are gone.. u should try it bro..
this is the website instructon for potting pickups..
hope u achieve removing dat squeel.. ;)

Oh... I was using metal zone...

And that method sounds nice... But I'm afriad imma destory the pickups! I don't have any experience in taking out stuffs from my guitar...

Nothing to do with the pickups being high gain or not. If the pickup is not wax potted, then the wires inside are free to vibrate. When they vibrate they become microphonic and hence squealing feedback.
