ive played for about a year and decided to invest my year end funds on a good timing system.

im not looking for the ol'boring metronome but something that can be conencted to spearkers and play different grooves and adjustable timing.
the device should be similar to that of those electronic keyboards that most drum schools use to help the students.

okay. my point is, does such a device exist?

and what kind to get and of cos how much?

These are quite widely used by drummers.

Boss DB90 Dr. Beat Metronome

That's about $200+

DB-30

Lower budget about $60-$90, can't remember.

I've seen them at sweelee and Drum Resources at Excelsior.
Give the shop a call to find out.

Or save a bunch by getting on ebay

sounds really worth taking a look at.

alright i've placed a review for the DB30 metronome on: http://www.soft.com.sg/2006/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=20209

alright just to highlight a few points why i bought it. firstly its pocket sized, important for me, almost a feather weight in comparison to other metronomes. secondly i got it at a sweelee sale for 47dollars. thats really cheap.

the metronome as i said offers a range of bpm till 250 with timing going at 16th notes, 8th notes and the normal 4. there are a few other timings that the metronome offers as well. beats can be up to 4,5,6 as well as stuff like 2+3

the most important for me is the tap function which i find is really useful when im trying to figure out the tempo the band is playing at, excellent stuff.

so yea this is the db30 which in your case can be plugged to a stereo as it has a earphone output. the db90 obviously has much more functions. however price and size wise, i think the db30 serves its functions very well and is user friendly.

sweelee carries the db30 at round 55 after the discount (retails at 75)
