Good overdrive for chord work

Hi all.. I'd like a good overdrive pedal for chord work.

Hopefully you guys would be able to help me out.

TS9... OD3... Sparkle Drive... Zim Foxrox... SHO... take your pick man, just go try one out and stick with it; that's the easiest way ;)

Ah but the thing is, I realised I do not get the clarity I like from some of them..

ts7 for instance. Not very good clarity.

Sd-1 does better..

Wondering about the Blues Driver and OD-3

Chordwork? What kind of chords? You want clarity while playing complicated, colourful chords?

I'll go with the Blackstone MOSFET Overdrive for clarity.

No budget?

Ah yea budget.

Preferrably not more than $150. Dun mind 2nd hand at all.

Chordwork.. Any kind really.

Blues Driver is very clear... but it needs to be modded to get rid of the fizz, otherwise, a very very excellent overdrive pedal indeedly, even nicer for goosing your main dirt pedals or amp. I like it.

OD-3... well... its got a flavour of its own... go try it first.

I wouldn't go TS at all for clarity if you are on humbuckers... doesn't make sense because of the mid hump. And same goes for the Bad Monkey.

SD-1.. Zakk Wylde OD...

Thats all I can think of for $150 at the moment.

Actually, whats your gear now? What guitar? Whats the issues you are facing?

I'm guessing you are getting mud or less clarity from your setup, and it might be a case of something else instead of having to grab another pedal.

Google read google read google read....
Actually try searching "Good Overdrive"

Thanks man...

I use humbuckers. Shall take your previous post's advice.

Amp is a Peavey Bandit 112. Epiphone DOT.

I have a Ts7 and a SD-2 now for overdrives.

hmm for all its worth,.. no cash to foray into the booteek world yet.. but i really do fancy my phat keeley blues driver.. real nice.

Doesn't the SD2, crunch channel, give you what you want?

Not really.. Its hard to find the balance between too bright and mushy.

*maybe maybe.. I should look for Randolf about this...

play clean. best way to get clarity :D

it might be a little hard to find something clear under $150. i'd look at more boutique stuff if i were you..gas a bit, haha

My 2 cents worth:

1. Play clean if you are into the complicated chords.

2. Distortion/Overdrive works well with power chords.

3. Fret properly.

Have a nice day!
