ok heres the situation, ive got enough cash to upgrade my rig

its, either sell all my lower end guitars and get a really good one.

or

sell all but my best guitar of the lot, rid the amp and get a good tube head.

my friend sees it as a good guitar i can use to gig versus a white elephant amp head which will probably never get to leave the house.

what do you guys think?

amp head can leave the house what.. you just gotta get used to carrying it and being careful not to knock it around. But i say go for the guitar first, then the head.

good guitar comes first.

everything else second.

buying a nice tube amp head for a crappy guitar will be kinda like
buying 24inch computer screen for a pentium 1 computer.

ok here goes.

guitars:
epiphone g400 with sds
squier 51' with sds
schecter 006 blackjack with hassounds

amp setup:
mesa f-30 1x12 combo
edo's birch 2x12 cabs with celests.

plus cash at hand and misc pedals.

want:

gibson sg (so much more guitar then my epi)
high gain head with a more preferred voicing

the gibby is so much more guitar then my epi, and is prob something i can keep for a long time.

the mesa, awesome clean channel is the reason i bought it. intially the gain channel was an eye-opener to a once pedal based drive person. now i find myself boosting the amp most of time. i dont wanna push it to do something it isnt, a modern higher gainer. might as well sell it and get something else. and many used amps lose alot of resale value (not locally tho) so yea, could snag one.

personally i would sell all your guitars and buy the Gibby if your into it. Keep the amp for now until you find another one you like more than this one.

Put a Krank Distortus Maximus thru the Mesa and the 2x12.

I don't see how you can't do modern metal!

Plus, the DM is a distortion pedal not a boost - no "pushing the amp" technically.

haha okay.

been looking at rockerverbs, older 2 channel dual rectos and framus dragons.

me like warm, smooth and chunky gain channel. think bands like thrice and thursday and the many new generic myspace "hardcore" bands.

anddd with the ability to get more tightness and agressiveness with a boost pedal infront. for brutal chug galore.

not asking too much am i? heh.
