Good Guitar Strings (Anti- Rusting)

I like Elixirs only because they last very long. Tonewise, I prefer other brands. Strange enough, my favourite brand is Darco by Martin strings. Cheap and good. I'd get them for tone but for convenience, Elixirs for me.

I dislike Elixirs. They feel and sound dead, lifeless and clunky to me. Plus they have this annoying lack of "grip" that makes my bends slip sometimes, taking into consideration how the amount of coating makes each string feel stiff - even by "coated" standards. The only consolation, if any was that they dont rust or oxidise(turn black) but after 3 months of having them on my LP, enough was enough. I decided to get rid of them despite the strings still looking like they came out of the pack yesterday. Went back to dunlop strings and suddenly my guitar came back to life - tones were richer, fatter and fuller in terms of harmonics. Not to mention feeling better too.

I'd recommend other coated brands... Cleartones take the fight to Elixirs. DRs are also not too bad and the Ernie Ball Titanium coated is also a serious contender....It feels exactly like their nickel coated variety, without the annoying stiff tension and lack of grip the Elixirs have. In fact, it feels exactly like their usual nickel plated Slinkys that we all know and love.
