Comments will be appreciated.. Missed some notes and stuff, ideas a little undeveloped halfway, but hey! It's improvisation!

Plus, I seriously seriously cannot hold all 4+ minutes.. So it gets redundant after a while..:mrgreen:

And if possible.. Any idea who I sound like? Would like to know if I sound "me" or you can hear some influences..

Edit: Video removed

love your tone, buddy.... :D

would love to hear you be more adventurous rather than just play it safe all the way, but well im a fan of diatonic stuff (:

Good feel you'r developing down there.

Lol.. SD-1 is all I needed! Youtube really degrades the quality of the video man.. Sounds really monotonous on the attack..

And I have to play safe since I was trying not to mess up.. Whenever I push the record button the mistakes all come out.. Happens in a band situation to the rest as well.. Haha

Too much "box-ey" playing there.
And starting every lick with the same pattern kinda gets annoying after a while.

Ahh.. I prefer getting a catchy phrase, repeat it, then mess around here and there, and then go back to the original picture..

Lol.. After a while when I cooled down a bit I did had fun!:mrgreen:

If you guys want, DL the track and post video responses! It'd be cool to see different interpretations of the feel.. We can share and learn!

Nokia N81.. One of the best handheld video recording devices I've found (better than most Digicams).. Doesn't distort your tone or anything..

Found that out when I could record Incubus and Saosin CLEARLY when I was 3 rows from the front.. Good good video recorder!

Dude - the track is a tough track.

If you asked Satriani to play over this - sure, he can do it. Starry Starry Night anyone?

Give it to Vai or Mattias... and they might be going - wait a minute... this... really sounds like a "Play the Pentatonic Over Me" track, given their inclination for doing different-sounding stuff.

I'm not saying pentatonics are bad or boring or you know.. just.. that the track itself doesn't really inspire out of the box playing so much.

That said... you sound like Oasis.

And if you're asking about your own personal identity... well, let's be frank and objective. You play straight repetitive phrases, lots of pentatonics, straight-forward runs, sticking to a shape or 2, and its not like you had lots of vibrato/bendy spots to showcase a possibility-unique-style. What say you? Would that be unique? Do you think there's a pool of similar sounding guitarists?

I think you can decide for yourself.

I also think its perfectly fine to repeat a phrase a lot of times. Problem is - that's all that is being done. A carbon copy, copy & paste. There's little variety and more predictability. That is fine if you need to achieve a certain vibe - but imagine ever other solo you cut sounds like... that? Woah.

A simple thing you can do to experiment with less standard, straight timing could be - to vary when you start your familiar phrases. Start them all a little off-beat. Toy with the rhythm. Could you leave more space? Play a familiar phrase 2 notes in, then stop, skip the next note - leaving a gap there. Funny how the listener's mind would often 'fill in the blanks'. You know... stuff like that...

^only proper response here. i agree, there's nothing much to say except you sound very like every other guitarist

daryl, while i think its cool to be objective & critical... I think its also more wholesome to give more than just "I think you're like that."

Would you have more to say? Tips to give?

That said... you sound like Oasis.

yesyes. agree with shreddy. the playing has a hint of Noel. maybe coz i heard one ur licks being the same as one of oasis's songs..

wait got the song. its "dont go away". thought i heard the intro of that song in ur playing.
