Gibson Les Paul Prices Going Up

Gibson sound

Agree tat Gibson are business minded people with the intention of making money! No doubt a Fender Strat would be a more reasonable choice but then again a Gibson will always be a Gibson....
And since the prices are going up then it spells good news for Gibson collectors! I guess it makes them more collectible not only as a guitar for playing but also as a collectible.

I'm a Gibson sucker myself so I think I need someone to influence me to Fenders. :???:

buy a custom shop master built strat by someone like todd krause or john cruz. when they pass away(hopefully not soon) their value of those guitars should appreciate. this is like rocketscience man. :P

this will not matter if you have good sources or not.the price will still go up as the manufacturer-gibson,sells it expensive.even if the source is good or bad, it will be more exp soon.got this from orangeguitar,he also said that the price will go up.its an international thing

I'm like Sub. Brand for guitar doesn't matter for me.

I like, I buy :) I seriously don't care about boutiques but that's just me.

And yes, Gibson's prices will always go up. No surprise to me...

Besides Gibson, seems like Fender Japan's list prices (will probably impact retail price eventually?) going up too. Check out the announcement at Ishibashi's website.

Ibanez- there were already price revisions late 2007. no further announcements this 2008 (maybe too early to tell...).

orange guitar has a nice selection of used les pauls at really reasonable prices..

the owner is very friendly and will let you try his guitars readily at his place.

At what gibson prices are going for, you'd probably be better off DIYing. (its never too late to start), or get a small shop customer builder to get one done for you for around USD3k.

Yes, a true gibson tone comes from a gibson, but before you throw your wad of cash around, ask yourself what you really want from the guitar.

If none of the gibsons fit your requirements. e.g change of pickups, neck doesn't feel right, etc, etc, etc.

Then a custom is in order, spec it to your heart's content and then you'd get exactly what you want and its very likely you won't spend more than you need to after that.

Yeah. For the price of a Gibson or PRS, its more worth it to have a custom built to your specifications. You get what you want. Sadly, with regards to Gibson and PRS, other than the guitar its the 'boutique' name you're paying for.

I'm beginning to GAS for some Staggs now...

haha, i guess many atimes, its strong branding. everybody screams gibsons, fenders, ibanezs', etc nowadays

Although I use an Ibanez myself and like it, I have to agree that Gibsons, Fenders and Ibanezs are WAY overrated. People treat them like they're the "...only good guitars in the world."

Yeah they do, at least you can trust them for their good reputation (more towards Fender and Ibanez) but if you search hard enough, you might actually find a similar-priced guitar with better specs...

Subjective of course. An Ibanez RG might not work for me, while a Marlique Broken Wings would. Totally depends on the player... If only a Gibson feels right in your hands, alas, part with the money.

No point suffering and then finally giving up guitar as a result of getting a guitar that doesn't fit you.

Nothing has Mojo like a Fender or a Gibson!!!!
