Gibson Les Paul BFG

yea P90 in the BFG and HH in the EC and wad is see is taht the EC2 has 3 knobs and the EC1 has 4

BFG? For jazz? Sure. Hollowbody for the jazzy warm tone ya?

But otherwise... its meant to be a rock guitar. Its cleans are... eh... well... if you think Metallica's live clean tones are stellar, then sure, the BFG's cleans will rock. Else... the cleans are poor.

the cleans on the bfg are still acceptable.but this guitar is suitable for metal, a tad too heavy for jazz.superb for rock, any type of rock

shred: i totally dislike metallica's clean sound..its juz too cold and wet..

i like it warm and moist.. 8O

Owned and heavily utilised the above which supposedly chambered but filled with Chromyte... imo waayyy nicer play than the BFG .

Still miss it !!

The Les Paul Studio Lite, introduced in 1987, added a new attraction to the already popular Studio. A Chromyte center block made it the lightest, most comfortable Les Paul while still retaining traditional solid performance.

Wow, thats cool and reasonable price for a Gibson.
So which is better LP studio lite or BFG?

By the way what does BFG stands for???? Big Friendly Giant?? Big Foot Giant??

``Chromyte'' is Gibson's marketing term for balsa wood. The name is
derived from the taxonomic name for balsa, Ochroma lagopus.

Why would they use a different name? Maybe because of balsa's use in
inexpensive hobby applications. For me at least, it has a sense of
being cheap and flimsy -- even though it's actually a very strong and
somewhat expensive wood.

Quite illogically, even though I know they're the same thing,
``Chromyte'' seems mysterious and desirable. ``Balsa'' feels
commonplace and questionable for use in a guitar. Sometimes names
make all the difference.

Yep make no mistake, balsa is not cheap! Although so much a tone wood like mahogany, those studio lites are amazing guitars, super lite weight, and sound great! Besides they were much much much cheaper than their big brothers!

One thing about this guitar, everyone I know that has had a studio lite, has said the same thing. This thing sounds freakn' amazing. They are by far the most underated of all Gibbys. Don't let the "studio" name fool you, nor the lack of binding. (heck the new Gary Moore LP does not have binding either). In fact my guitar did not come with any studio decorations, like the TRC (mine was just black) and such. This is a true les paul that kicks but. I went with different pickups but that was to adjust for the style of music I play
.

The have been requests to reissue the 'lite' with more finish options but i guess it just fell on deaf ears !

For me all those current trendy flame tops is kinda makin me :smt078
..they just look like glorified table tops
...the BFG = sliced salmon

They're comin out all kinds of gimmicks ....not workin leh !

I tickled BFG at tags ...it just took me 2 mins to put it back on the shelf ...sorry fellas ! :smt102
