Gibson guitars <$800SGD

ok, im not trying to sell anything, lol.

my friend who brings in guitars from other countries (god knows where?) brought in stocks of GIBSON SGs, LES PAULs and ESes.

she claims they are all authentic GIBSON and all of them have got the gibson logo at the headstock. all comes with hardcases lyk normal gibsons do. and the gibson usa logo is imprinted on the hardcase as usual.

BUT wad made me scratch my head was wth, shes selling them at under $800SGD each. oh and yes shes a singapore in singapore lol

i jus wanna make sure its original gibson, so anyone of you guys heard of gibsons imported and going for $800? or is it jus a scam and a fake copy?

Gibson real or not

I also have anew :Gibson: LP with case. And inlaid Gibson logo etc. Plays nice. looks great, right feel as my REAL Gibson LP. Has correct fret marker inlays,Even serial number is in line with gibson numberring system, truss rod cover has two screws etc. BUT IT IS a CHINA MADE Gibson copy, cost me $450, plays and sounds good.
I have three original gibsons and am a Gibson rather than fender /Ibanez fan, yet apart from slightly waek pickups, this China fake is great and cheap. I only bpught it for novelty value. So at $800 if it;s a China "Gibson" copy, you can buy cheaper lah!!

so Canon, you really have such a guitar? yeah i know its from china... and i was thinking, if i can get my hands on it, i can get emgs or sth and switch the pickups and do some other mods... but one of my main concern is transferring the money to such ''Gibson'' sellers and not getting my guitar properly... I wouldnt mind if its a knock off and not a genuine one, but I want to see it before my eyes before I deal and part with my precious money... Canon, how/where/from who did you buy the cheap gibson from?

He distorted_soul, I do have a China made Gibson "replica". You are right, the rest of the guitar is pretty good except the PUps although not bad are a bit weak but can be swapped out for better pups. The body is a beautiful maple cap tiger stripe. fretwork is good,and they seem to have fixed the easy to spot replica issues they had befoe such as truss rod covers with three screws instead of two etc. There is a street of music shops near Nanjing Rd, I will be back in Shanghai Monday so will find out the name and post it. Lots of shops selling so have to spend a bit of time looking at quality etc then haggle for best price.Mostly Les pauls but a few 335s and SG's,

I just bought one for a bit of fun and besides not wanting to take my real gibbys to leave at my place in China when I am not there. These are "replicas" or "fakes" depending on how you want to label, so selling is illegal. But a swap could be Ok. I would have to check.

Going off topic a bit. Canon, does the airline allow you to bring the instrument onboard or do you have to check it in?
