m,mmmm this is sex. my fave LP :D

With regards to this, I must say, the schaller styled licensed Floyd is pretty good stuff! It keeps it tuning reasonably well. :)

However, actually came across a Flying V which had a trem that could not pull up properly. No way to repair it short of cutting wood.

the ltd EC-500 seems more value for money.. but hell, the gothic LP is still a GIBSON and you know how ppl go gaga over gibby LPs

Hmm.

well it depends on which Gibby LP anyone would go gaga over... I'm not into metal.. although I can appreciate the simplicity/coolness of the goth, menace, voodoo LP models.

So since I'm a huge Jimmy Page fan... hehe I'd go wacko-gaga over a Gibson '59 Les Paul Reissue, rather than these babies. And I've tried my dream guitar before! *DROOOOL*

some comments:

the Gothic re-launch was in part Gibson's efforts to offset the dissent for the Menace series. however, the real intentions behind the re-launch remains debatable.

when i reviewed the Anniversary 2005 LTD F-model, i received limited responses pertaining to the EC version. it's good to see a renewed interest 8) however, keep in mind that Gibson was the initiator of the satin black colour scheme, LTD went one-up by incorporating the EMGs in their EC.

FYI- the current Gothic model isn't an accurate reproduction of the debut version, current differences being (the EMG pickups aside):

*absence of 12th fret crescent/ star marker
*current rosewood fretboard vs the initial ebony version
*'Les Paul' decal on current Gothic LP

the original Gothic

it's quite immaterial to pit the Gothic against the Epi version which is refered to as the Goth series (not Gothic), in any case, further discussion on this basis is akin to splitting hairs.

hmz black guitars... :?
haha just not my style... but.. they might look cool for those heavy metallist~

i wouldn't regard the Gothic series as an exclusive conception for the 'heavy' camp, those of us in search of clarity should take heed in the inclusion of the EMGs.
