hows the weight? always wondered hows the sound of the middle position when the bridge and middle pup are both on. wonder why they wired it like that in the first place.

Isn't the middle position... the middle pickup? :P


Ooooo.. run ALL THREE in series. How's that? Imagine... 3 x X2N. Or... 2 x Warpigs = 22k x 6 = 66k output
 
ahh no its not the middle.

the orginal Gibson wiring was the bridge and middle together.

if its stock it should be like that.
 
well...the weight of the guitar is darn bloody heavy..much heavier than all the Epis..and a lil heavier than a Gibson LP Standard..

the pups are great..amazing tone u can get from it..the middle pup works when the switch is in middle position working with the bridge & neck..thats wad i think in my opinion..sounds amazing with my tonebone..feel free to contact me..maybe we can try out each other's gear..

anyway..am saving up for a Warpig & a Gibson 57's pup..Warpig for Bridge while 57's on neck..middle still thinking wad to get..
 
Just collected my Epi LP Junior Special!

I really like the humbucker...sounds almost identical as my SH-4 JB but maybe without the punch...or maybe the strings are the reason. Default strings are 9s...going to change 'em later. The action was pretty low...will raise it a little. It's also a very reflective axe as you can see from the 2nd pic. Geez...

Also, are bridge pickup rings this incredibly tall?

But overall, I'm really really pleased with this purchase...and this is also the last time you'll see it in this form...

Hi there,

I tried that very guitar. The middle position selects bridge and middle pickups, just like the real 3 pickup customs.

wah thats gonna hurt your back.

Damn dificult to find a nice light weight les Paul with good wood nowadays.
 
Heavier than a gibby. wow. I pity your back man. Heavy Guitar in Hardcase plus Heavy Pedalboard(if you have one). ouch

Hee, thanks...I paid 260 for it...yea, there's sunburst which was the one I tried. Overall, it's a really nice axe but having played a strat for over a year, the neck needed a little getting used to. Tuners are nothing to rave about at all...they lose a few cents of tune very easily and will be looking to change it A.S.A.P.

I know the placement of the bridge is a trouble for some but for a low slingers like me, it's a dream (maybe a little exaggerated, but it's nice). Pickups are probably the best of the whole axe. Sounds really, really close to my SH-4JB stuck in my strat...I'm not sure why either. And this guitar is heavy too...don't mean extremely heavy but heavier than my strat...but the difference might be due to the wood or becaue my strat has a swimming pool route.

So if you wanna buy the Junior, I'd say go for it but remember to replace the tuners!
 
yeap//its darn heavy..especially when i'm carrying it in my SKB..but well...its a gret guitar..pros and cons..but i heard that the heavier the body..the better the tone..haha..correct me if i'm wrong LP users..

That's a matter of opinion actually. If you visit the Les Paul Forum, you'll find that some people there prefer those that weighs around 8-9 pounds. Beside the back relieving factor, they said that the lighter weight contributes to the resonance. Others said that the heavy weight is needed to get the punch.

The quality of wood contributes a lot to weight. The historic reissue series get the best wood grade, hence they're lighter (even without weight relief holes) and considered to have some of the best tones in LP history. The original 58-60 LPs are said to weigh at around 8-9 lbs also.

That's not to say that the heavier guitars don't sound good. If it works for you, then that's all that matters. Play it acoustically. If it rings and sounds rich, then you're all set.
 
ala is right.

the lighter ones are supposedly better. Weight is a bloody killer. Trying jamming for 2 hours with it and it hurts i tell you.

Too heavy and i think it tends to be too thick in the low end best is finding a light piece of mahogany. of course thats my opinion
