As Stated. Recently, I decided to learn guitar as a hobby, started from borrowing a friend's guitar. So now, I decided to get myself one.
With a budget of around $200 to $300. Looking for an acoustic one.

I'm totally new to this, and really need some strong recommendation on where can I get a decent guitar. And how much does it cost. I heard about some Custom Acoustics from City Music, so I was wondering what exactly is it.

Best Regards and Thanks a lot for reading this.

Cheers!

Hi there,

congratulations on deciding to pick up the guitar. It's going be a great life-long journey of pleasure and discovery.

Now, the thing about guitars is that they are as diverse as you are.

Not meaning to offend anyone, but please take recommendations on specific models with a pinch of salt, because one man's meat is another man's poison.

I might like how this guitar sounds, but you may not. The best thing you can do is have us here point you in the right general direction, and you go and try them out yourself and decide which is the one that sounds and feels best to you. After all, you are going to be the one that is playing that particular guitar, no? ;)

Here are some old threads that will help you out, many people have asked similar questions like yours. Please read them!

Go down to places like Peninsular, Parklane, Peace Center, Bras Basah and check out the different brands that were recommended. Take into consideration the things that were recommended to look out for, and decide if you like how they sound.

You are always welcomed to check back here again with your findings and I for one will be more than happy to give you my opinion.

Cheers.

Agree with Phil... An established fact in psychology is that different people have different perceptions.

Try as many guitars as you can. They're all different in some way. Neck profile, woods used, etc.

i will be going down to city music soon. probably a custom acoustic.

solid tops are in your price range. don't bother going down to peace center as the main store there is simamex afaik and they specialize in higher end guitars.

eh yucki8aby what do you mean by peace center main store is sinamex? and also sorry for my ignorance but what is afaik?

city music is city music, which is in peace centre lvl 2, deals with custom acoustic, martin, vox, line6, zoom and alot more.

sinamex is NOT city music, sinamex is just sinamex, and is not at peace centre, it's at parklane mall lvl B1, the shopping mall just beside peace centre, and they deal with taylors, breedloves, timothy guitars, maudio, alesis, elixirs and alot more. generally, the acoustic guitars in sinamex are of the more expensive higher range guitars up to the thousands.

also in parklane mall lvl 1, you'll find a maestro, then lvl 2 for guitar gallery that deals with guitars of up to 5 figures, followed by lvl 3's byleft that deals with some of the more budget guitars below $100, and also other stuffs.

a trip to the peace centre - parklane mall area should be fruitful. it's also walking distance (if you know how to walk) to bras basah, where you can find swee lee (gibson, fender, epiphone, squire, ibanez, cort and alot more) and ranking music (ayers, jack & danny, shine, seagull, crafter, tgm and alot more).
