they say that single pickup guitars have great tone and sustain due to minimal magnetic pull..

Does minimal magnet pull = better tone? Not true.

More sustain due to less magnet pull? Yes.

Agreed.

Though there is certainly a different tone which some like.

Agreed here too, Shred..

The one that really sustain is the JS. Gotoh fixed bridge on mahogany body. Tone courtesy of Fred bridge hum. Tubular sounding, lots of growl, yet bassy. Time to string it up...

Thats an excellent axe... think Satch knew that fixed bridge guitars handle rhythm much better than floyded ones. Treat her well and give her a tung oil rubdown every year or so.

yo Shred.

u talk bout tung oil. Ive been thinking of refinishing the body recently, and have consulted malcolm tan. he is offering me a service with beeswax plus tru oil. I have always been using old english oil, as recommended by beez 10 bloody years back since i got hold of the JS.

U got any experience dealing with oil finished body?

new pickups for my dear ibanez S470DX! white air norton neck + chrome trembucker SD custom. ripoff of shredcow's old colour combination, playing skills is a whole other story though..

My Yamaha AES620

The knobs are abit slippery but I still Love it to bits :D

hey Keiith... what did you use to paint your pickups? regular art paint?

looks abit messy actually, but nice attempt - seems you were inspired by a fellow softie with white pickups on his RG321?

mRe-haha.. not inspired la..out of my own creativity and to kill boredom.i used acrylic paint,i tried to scratch the paint after it dried..nothing came out,its strong, never use poster colour btw..really messy?? :D

Jsut two of my guitars that i'm using right now,
The Electric is a Ibanez Musician and the other is a EKO. :)

Ibanez Musician looks good but how does it play? And what's with the 6 knobs? 2 x volume, 2x tone and the other two?

Listen to Malcom. He is the guy who knows his stuff... :) Your guitar will feel great and look great when he is done with it. I believe for a guitar of that stature, it only deserves the best.

Malcom will be back in early April so till then, hold your horses! :D

Sparked by the really nice pics of you guys' axes, here's mine:

WARNING! Graphics intensive!

Earlier collection include my very first electric, a righty Ibanez Artist, Gibson Flying V and a righty Mexican Fender Strat (yeah, I think every lefty would wanna do a 'Hendrix' at one point of their life *lol*)

...after which I sold my Mexican Strat and bought from ebay a lefty '95 US Standard Strat from a repairman who had vintage 70s pickups installed in it. A lefty Fender Jaguar was soon purchased as well...

Took her apart to do a complete setup straight after I received her...

(later I changed the Japanese Jag pickups to the American pickups)

...And now for a big family reunion photo :D :

From left to right: Japanese Fender Jaguar, no-brand folk guitar, 90s Fender US Standard Strat, no-brand acoustic guitar (my very first guitar which I've sprayed black and painted the rose in), 90s Ibanez Artist (my first electric), a 1974 Ibanez 12-string acoustic, 2003 Gibson Flying V (Faded version)

(unfortunately, the 12-string which I rashly paid for $100 from Cash Convertor had a damaged bridge which could be ripped out anytime, so it's wall decoration now :()

A candid picture of the guitar necks

Send it to Malcom, he'll fix it up, probably good as new.
