G3 2007 - Paul Gilbert!!!

shredding, shredding and more shredding..

kidding....

im sure they'll rock the joint with more than just fingers flying all over the fretboard ;)

why all the usual boring guitarists? replace the whole lineup. id like to see some reb beach, adrian vandenberg, scott henderson, doug aldrich, mike romeo, jake e lee, tony mac alpine, george lynch, vito bratta, uli jon and the like.

Uli Jon!!!
Tommy Emmanuel...haha...hey its G3 either ways...bring in alot of styles and fuse la..

Clapton is still a good choice..

quite out of point, but i think petrucci sounds kinda awful on stage... too rigid and technical... lost the feel of a live concert... vai is sooo much a better showman than him, petrucci owns in studio recordings though

gotta agree to that...JP is great...but when live he just stands there and shred la..not that versatile..i'm no shredder...but i know what a good showman is...but if its about the sound..then JP is good...but still too "robot"

Err....Clapton?? No lah bro, he will slow everyone down at least 30 bpms when they start to shred lah....

This is how it's going to look on stage -

Satch ------> "shred" "shred" "shred" shred"

Gilbert ---> "shred" "shred" "shred" "shred" "shred"

The band signals eachother, softens the mood of the song, slows down 50 bpms and here comes -

Clapton ----> "doodle" :? "doodle" "doodle" "doodle" "2minute bend/vibrato" "still stck with same bend" "vibratos a lot more" :x "goes near the guitar amp, gets huge feedback" "vibratos some more and do multiple 1 step minor pentatonic hammer-on for another 3 minutes" then

Nevertheless, the crowd still give thunderous claps and standing ovation!!!

Hmmmm......

Wonder why Vai's not around for this one. Maybe he's got commitments. Still it's good to move away from that cliquish notion of Satriani/Vai in G3. Give the others a chance!

I would prefer though that Petrucci stay out of this one...I'm for stage presence when it comes to live gigs and Petrucci (unfortunately) doesn't have that for me.

malmsteen has awesome stage presence..i saw him live in his Singapore gig..damn cool guy, too bad he got pissed and my VIP ticket got wasted :( cudnt meet yngwie

I'd rather the lineup be like tokyo's one.

That was absolute greatness luhh, Vai, Satch and JP.

But on another note, Vai didn't really fit in with Satch and Petrucci so mebbe it can be considered a good thing if he's not in the 07 lineup

damn.. i really hope e combi should goes like

John Petrucci, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert

pardon those that adore satch but i feel he is somehow stuck with that same few lines, which didnt really interest me much..yes i know he started this G3..

i wun mind if Eric Johnson were to make a come back..in fact i do miss his jamming in G3

I doubt they will come to Singapore.. the best thing we should be doing now is save up n prepare to have a soft oversea outing to australia n watch them live! haha

Time to save $$$!

John is great, But I will Prefer Satch ,Vai & Gilbert to do this time. Vai is the entertainer & crowd seller ,everyone knows that, even SAtch sometimes a bit boring .. maybe this time it will sell a lot coz of PG,but after that we don't know it depends of the outcome of this one.I Have One Reason Why Vai is not Around Coz You Can't put Billy Sheehan & Paul Gilbert at the same back stage. (MUSICIANS EGO) They're EGO is BIG coz They are MR.BIG

Hmm.

Perhaps why Mr Vai is not available is because he is collaborating with Mr Dweezil Zappa for his "Zappa plays Zappa" tour thingie, which if I'm not wrong is starting in middle 2007? Not sure about the exact dates lah.

Time for me to start discovering Frank Zappa :)

are they releasing the dvd for this one? i really hope they do man. vai has been out of the G3 tour three times if i'm not wrong.

oh btw yeah i'd hope to see new players being roped into G3, like reb beach, rusty cooley, zakk wylde n MAB? i wanna see slash in G3 too but not quite possible right hehe.

YAR: PG n sheehan qorked together from some tribute thingy a while back.
