Okay boys.. my I-dont-need-a-fuzz-streak just came to screeching halt.

So all the fuzz heads out there (especially mr wck lol) come come.. need a a starting recommendation.

A while back I emailed Tommy from Lumpy's to try a MKII. BUT the man hasnt replied my emails since I confirmed the build details with him. So I'm kinda on square one now.

Cheers y'all!

ya i saw the note on his website recently... but i made the order in DECEMBER =( really un-cool that he'd stop cold replying my emails like that

hah basic audio! yea boy doing me some homework! =)

You called? haha. What kind of fuzz are you eyeing?

The ehx germ4 is a cheap and good one its versatile and dynamic too (and you don't need to ship it over). It's probably the best fuzz ehx has come up with in some time. Btw you're welcome to try Jonathan's ex Lumpy's MKII if you wana OR I'll gladly trade the MKII for your KOT

I think it's easier to get to him by PM on TGP actually. Watch the custom shop sale section, a few tonebenders might pop up if you're lucky. I've been waiting since November. No hurry, but I'm dying to see what it looks like. I had a very very sexy design and layout for the pedal.

wah.. dude.. lol thats .. wah lol sorry the KoT's not going anywhere hah

Yea i actually am looking to try a mkII.. I was sold when i saw burg's lumpy demo on youtube. nothing way too fuzzy, but articulate and relatively bright? Anything from from off the shelf pedal makers that i can try u think? (btw way off the shelf i mean like.. barber and way huge lol)

Haha was just kidding bro. My MKII isn't going anywhere either heh.

If you stay in the east you can drop by my place to give it a go. I havent tried the swollen pickle but I get the impression that its not that bright and more gainy and muff-ish, same for the trifecta. The way huge is more tweakable and versatile tho..

My current fave is the germ4 haha. Its pretty dynamic and can go from splatty to smooth high gain. Theres also the EQD stuff, their tone reaper seems pretty good and might fit your description. Rat clones and the fuzz factory might fit too depending on your level of too fuzzy heh.

I'm mainly (for now anyway) intending to use it for the violin voiced round big definitive sound to use on lead tones. Most likely won't be using this for rhythm work much.

Someone suggested this: http://www.jhspedals.com/jhspedals/JHS_Mini_Foot_Fuzz.html

The draw for the JHS is the price tag and the tiny tiny foot print (not the artwork)! Also this kinda sounds like a nice cross between the vintage and modern tone types (have this feeling that dudelove's about to smack me lol).

The mini foot demos sound pretty good and the size is great for your already crowded board eh. Check out the mini bone if you're interested in a small footprint fuzz.

Why would I? It doesn't sound that bad! It's actually quite good if you don't care much about mojo hahaha.

Hahaha nice try on the joke ah... Triangle muff ftw! They tend to have lower gain and more articulation but big muffs don't have the fuzzy-ness you might want. Silicon fuzz face into an overdrive should be more fuzzy but can retain some cut, germaniums are too woolly for me haha.

If you want eric johnson violin leads you need a transparent od into a silicon fuzzface into a cooked amp. If you want david gilmour, transparent od into rams head or/and triangle muff into clean amp. Im gasing for a triangle muff....

How abt a BYOC large beaver? It clones either the triangle or ram head muff. I got the triangle clone done by tymc. Gives me a nice Gilmour-like lead tone when i use a tube screamer in front of it and a delay after. Really amazes me how my single coils can produce such a nice thick volin-like tone with this set-up.

I have not tried other fuzz pedals, so unable to compare this with others.
