For All O Level Candidates this year

hahaha....08 candidate here. Anyone else? Gosh, sec 4=no life. Since start of school, havent been able to really relax, studying everday after sch.Tabuleh tahan sialxX

Yeah, sec 4 was no life for me too. But y'know..take time to rest and stuff. It might help your understanding and learning better too. Do the MOST enjoyable thing to yourself..and then get back to work.

I'm not exactly the best O level candidate so yeah, just be sure to collate all the other responses that you get too :D

omg. SEC 4 WAS THE BESST TIME OF MY LIFE ! hahaha. my class rocks everyone's socks.
we didnt care bout o's . enjoyyyyyy.. live love laugh ! hahaha
in the end we didnt regret bout our resuts too .ha.

heres a piece of advice for future candidates:

emaths and amaths better start practising now until ur last olevel maths paper. the rest u can start like during midyrs/june holidays. read all ur science/humanities textbooks at least 3 times den revise at least 6 past year prelims papers for each subject from other schools. TYS/FYS is USELESS. seriously.

2 weeks before prelims start memorizing ur content. dont need to study anymore.
aft prelims upto Os, make sure u can recall what u study/memorize.

ALL O level papers questions are straightforward. dont need to think much. All the answers are in your textbook except for english/mt paper of course. Experience u gain from doing prelims papers will help u to complete questions faster.

If you 100% study evrything except memorizing, confirm l1r5 below <20 pts for Os.
If you wanna get lotsa A1s and A2s, memorizing word-for-word is the key to obtaining ur As unless ur damn good at para-phrasing.

I started studying the week before my first written paper. absolutely no time to memorize anything. in the end, i got 19pts. midyrs/prelims gotten 39pts and 33pts respectively cause nvr study at all. Dont study last minute like i did. You'll only get like 3-4hr sleep everyday. Revising prelims papers from other schools saved my life. It will help u too. trust me.

actually, when you start the routine of studying for a week with no distractions you start getting the hang of it. i woke up after i got 24 for my prelims so i studied with a whole lot of discipline and signed up for tuitions for 2 months and scored 12 points for my O's. Tuition can help ALOT, add math and poa especially.

OR you can do what my 6 pointer friend did. after every lesson, go home, master the topic. at the end of the week spend about 3-4 hours recapping so you don't forget. revising at the end of the year will be so much less of a torture. consistency is the key.

imo i think the o levels is a flawed system, i mean all the hardwork just comes down to 2 weeks of exams.

what if on a particular day your feeling nervous? esp if it's those short papers where you need all the time you can get eg Social studies. then if you screw up that one paper, it's going to pull down your results.

horrible.

my advice is to do tys and start working early.

a tip for those doing social studies or history. for the essay questions... allways remeber to answer the question, dont write a long long essay then in the end dont answer the question. its really important. i realised this after my prelims last year, i failed my humans for prelims but got a b3 for Os.

work hard, play hard.

study consistently. pay attention in class. half the battle won. as long as you understand the whole load of bollocks the teacher teaches in class, revising wont be such a bitch.

ultimately, no pain no gain.

either that, or be like my friend, quit school and become a man-whore.

I didn't finish the last question of the SBQ yet I still managed to get an A1 for combined humanities=) Just remember the techniques to answer the SBQ and SEQ questions. If you have all the content for SBQ but it lacks the proper response you only can get around 6 to 7 marks even though all your points are there. So yeah. Mastering the techniques for answering the questions is more important=)

omg.
I'm damn scared for (pure)Lit and SS in particular.
I've never got to complete my sec 3 papers at all.
NEVER.
Find it so hard to like, write so much without thinking because of the time constraints.

I was aiming for 15 pts for Os, but after the 2007 results, I have to start aiming for 10. eeek. So, that'd be A2 for L1R4.
sheeesh.

but its easy to say all that until the time comes,

i remember after chem practical, there was so much time that my friends and i decided to go lan at parklane. And, subsequently kept playin for the next 3 days. BEFORE and studyin took place..

luckily for me i can safely look back and laugh at those 'slack' moments of my O's
