Just wondering how popular they are with the local drummers who are surfing SOFT.

Light, easy to keep and set up, takes up less space, durable - Practical.

Since we're at that, what about wood hoops for your snare drums if them wood hoops are more affordable?

How much will you be willing to pay for a pair of Yamaha-styled wood hoops?

i've heard a lot of good things about wood hoops, but no personal experience with them.

but damn they look good on almost any snare

I know the wood hoops go for about sing 300+ a pair for the Yamaha's version, Nigel quoted me.

I have a pair of Stellar on my Black Panther and was very impressed by the sound. Very fat-sounding, great for ballads. The rimshots are not to mention, cracking!

Yamaha wood hoops can be had for less than $300 (maybe round $250) if you get em from ebay. Plus I think they'll take a while to get here if Nigel orders for you.

And what are your thoughts on Ludwig/Gibraltar styled flat based cymbal stands?

Bro jeeper..when you said 'Flat Based Cymbal Stands' - yu mean those which are like the old 1960s Ludwig Cymbal Stands izzit?

To Rudi: Yep, jasper is referring to those. Has a vintage thing about them, and lightweight too.

To jeepers: Stellar allows for bit more customization unless you want the plain good old looking hoops. I've haven had any experience about the stands though. But they always look good, but I'm guessing they sacrifice bit sturdiness compared to the more modern cymbal stands. Nonetheless, they have this vintage vibe going about them which I like.

Ok thanks –

Hey Jasper

I have these (Cymbals Stand & Hi-Hat Stands) at home – all ordered directly from the States through ebay…they are all Ludwig…

Seriously they are not so Stable as they are Thin and I only ordered them because I bought Mr Tama Goh 1960s Jazz Kit (which he got from someone when he was young) … on top of this – I order a Pearl 1960s Snare just for this Kit (which cost me a whopping $500 bucks) also from the States through ebay…

The only thing I never order – is the Seat/Drum Throne.
