Fight for your right to EMO!

Anyone can wear black, anyone can wear eyeliner, anyone can go to peninsula to get a band shirt. Its just an image, at the end of the day only the music and lifestyle counts.

from hair metale to emo, La Vanita is truly a fashion barometer of our times!!!

or scarves

or hooded tops (back in the good ol HC days... blatant emulation of NYHC fesyen!)

or leather jackets....

There is no such thing as 'true' emo..

Emo is what MTV calls music with sad lyrics, they bought and branded a certain sound. The so called 'emo' that we all know, or think we know today. Most 'emo' today is actually just post-hardcore.

Emo is SUPPOSED to be emotional hardcore, hardcore being hardcore punk, emotional meaning deep, introspective and often sad lyrics. And back during that time people playing emo-core were still considered punks.

Anyone can wear black, anyone can wear eyeliner, anyone can go to peninsula to get a band shirt. Its just an image, at the end of the day only the music and lifestyle counts.

And its bullshit to say emo is stealing your scene, whats so scary about a bunch of anorexics who act sad and wear shirts with hearts, blood, guns or knives :P

its emotive hardcore.
emo = jawbreaker, rites of spring, fugazi, embrace
emo =/= funeral for a friend, alesana, devil wears prada, blessthefall

people need to learn how to differentiate emo and post-hardcore, and dont tell me the "oh, its all music, labels are for soupcans, just enjoy the music" bullshit, if you got something wrong, you got something wrong. if you dont want labels, then dont label anything yourself. seperating metalheads and punks from normal people = labelling too.
and nothing's wrong with a little classification and i assure you, the people who dress like that and act like that are the ones who want to be labelled like that, despite what they will tell you
