FENDER question.

@AzNjT

I don't mean to be rude but you don't even know me personally. If that is the case, how do you compare my paranoia with yours? Why did you want to compare in the first place? Is there something you'd like to prove?

I've seen my fair share of bad guitars. Warwick basses have a tendency to come with a twisted neck. Maton guitars ALWAYS have neck problems. These things are apparent. This is a fact. The possibility of receiving a guitar in bad shape may not be common but the possibility is not 0. No one can predict how wood would react to climate change. Just take a look at your local repair stores and see the amount of acoustic guitars that go there.

Some people don't really find a problem with the guitar until they fiddle around with it for a while. At a store they might miss out things like dead spots on the higher register cos they don't bend on every fret to check. If you have a fret that popped up, it's best to bring to a store cos it's not as easy is just using a hammer and banging it back to the slot. Guitar repairs are not always that straight forward as they seem. I've screwed up plenty of times to know back in my schooling days & I'm speaking from experience.

How would you know whether BGW doesn't encounter such problems? If they can do their own repairs, why not? Doing repairs takes time and money. That is the whole reason why shops can mark up their prices & people are still willing to pay.

You don't run a business, that's why you don't see things the way I do.

ok, noted. :]
ps: not trying to prove, compare or be personal. just trying to point out the level of scrutiny for these instruments.

Buying from Guitar Connection is the safest and most reliable because they sell and repair guitars.

So does every shop i know in Peninsula. Thats like saying buy from any shop.

Anyway TS, Brendon is your safest bet. Otherwise, get your gear online. Local shops are ok but variety for Fenders are little.

Guitar Connection are the best and most experienced guys in guitar repair, there is a reason why they are in business the longest.

you need to substantiate your claims instead of repeatedly going GUITAR CONNECTION ARE THE BEST THEY REPAIR AND SELL OMGOMGOMG

Their track record of experience and being the longest in the business already speaks for itself, what's there to substantiate?

an old cobbler sat by the roadside, mending shoes for many many years, some say he's great, the best, others call him an insensitive ass. now, does this make him the best?

Would a roadside cobbler sell many pairs of boutique expensive shoes? I have a feeling that some people are jealous of the best.

First of all people, this thread has totally gone out of topic. Secondly, for the record, if you nothing nice to say don't say anything at all. People are running a business out there and every tiny insensitive comment you make will affect their business. So unless you can really prove that they are running an "illegal" business, then go ahead and spam the net. You don't benefit anything from sitting behind your computer and typing all these "false" accusations you have on these shops.

End of the day, if you don't like then don't buy anything from them and don't spam hate comments. I've been going to Guitar Connection for years and they are the nicest people in my point of view. It's all about approach, maybe the way you talked to the staff was in a very rude way? and that's why they react a certain way?

Whatever it is, just be more sensitive about every word you type here.

There is a lot of negativity in this forum. Sure isn't the same place as it was 10 years back.

AFAIK, Guitar Connection is a place run by Fender enthusiasts. Talk to any one there and you'll realise that they know their stuff when it comes to Fenders. If you take a close look at their store, you'd realise that most of their guitars are Fender Stratocasters.

If the thread starter is looking for something specific, I would definitely recommend him/her to check Guitar Connection out. However if the thread starter knows what he/she wants which is brand new (the Fenders at Guitar Connection are mostly used anyway), widely available and is looking for the best prices, there are plenty of other places to go (as listed by the others).

The guys at Guitar Connection deal with Fenders almost every single day be it servicing or selling one. Not only are they experienced at repairs, they also know their stuff when it comes to their guitars. Mind you their guitars range from original 50's Stratocasters to current day Fender Custom Shops. If you handle something day in and day out, you'd definitely be good at it as long as your passion drives you.

Example, can you tell the difference between an American Standard pickup against a Custom Shop 69 pickup in terms of looks? I can't but they can. That is the difference. I always approach them for such help because I'm a seller myself and I have to know my stuff before selling it to people agreed? IMO it's just a seller's responsibility to know what they are selling.

I don't see why is there a need to challenge Santana's claims that Guitar Connection is not a recommended place to go to with regards to Fenders. Do you really need him to spell it all out in detail? He got the main point down and that was all that was needed. I don't see why you guys have to pick on him just because he gave his honest opinion. I really don't think there was anything wrong with his suggestion considering the fact that he even gave his reasons why.

Think of it this way. Why don't you guys challenge the other people who recommended BGW guitars? I really see no reason why Santana is getting questioned for offering his opinion.

if people had negative experiences with brendon, my recommendation would surely be challenged. opinions here might be biased but they're not entirely baseless.

i dreamt i had a bad experience with xxx shop here last night and i posted about it here the next morning. strangely, many other softies also agreed with me because they coincidentally had the same dreams too..

no.

"So unless you can really prove that they are running an "illegal" business"

i would beg everyone here to re-read santana's first post onwards. was there a single comment after that said GC was bad? all i read is people challenging the claim that they are the best. why so aggresively defensive?

"considering the fact that he even gave his reasons why"

reason? "because they sell and repair guitars."
i believe superpotato_30 already addressed that.

lets just all relax. i can be a real troll around here sometimes, but this guy just beats the crap out of me in this game with 1-sentence posts

People are entitled to their opinions. You may or not not like it so take it or leave it. Once you challenge someone's personal opinion, just be prepared to have a heated argument.

hiding behind a screen sure makes it easy for people to say whatever they want.
