Fender Precision bass thread

Don't worry, I definitely want to try it out and when I do, I will let you try my '75 Reissue!

Speaking of which, do you know anybody who is selling a Badass II? I'm thinking of swapping the bridge of the reissue out for one of those nasty buggers.....need some punch for slapping lah....

3nab: Wah... sounds good man. Gas gas gas gas ;) But I gotta tahan for my Lakland :(

RentaBass: You might be easier off if you got it from eBay or GuitarPartsResource. There are always quite a few floating around out there.

Thanks superkicky! I snooped around ebay a bit and found quite a few going for pretty good "buy it now" prices. Pretty good seller ratings too.

Problem is, they're all the chrome ones....I kinda like the nickel plated ones, like the one that I have on Frankenstein....don't think they're that easy to come buy. I suppose I'll have to settle on the chrome plated ones if the need arises. :?

lai ah... flood w pbass pictures!

erm. u guys might have seen this before. my one and only pbass.

recently changed the pu to 1/4 pounders (pic still the original pu). its still hard to play. i wonder if it is a good buy anot. its been 4 mths...

hard to play? i'm also interested to hear how it is hard to play... in any case... pm me if you want to sell.... heheh

erm.... 2 saddle bridge... big fat early 50s neck... E string action too high, lowered it, the sound will be... not balanced... booohoo...

i think the strings shld be flatwound. plus the change frm ibanez's thin thin neck to fat precision neck is the main part i'm tryin to get used to.

hi,

My friend's got one of those. Though you can't do anything much about the feel of the neck (seriously, sell it if you can't tahan), you *can* lower the E-string and tighten the pickup further in on the bass side. And the 2-saddle bridge thing can be compensated (somewhat) with a Wilkinson tilt saddle bridge.

Can't get enough of good things!

I own three Jazz Basses, and they all have different tonal characteristics. I still hunger for more, but my finances do not allow for that.... :?

but that aniversary fender thingy is not MIA,its standard one, which i dont really like,i dunno why i am prejudice towards MIM bass, prefer MIJ

What is it about the MIM basses that you don't like?

I'm kinda curious, as I also can't deal with the MIMs. If forced to make a choice, I would also go with MIJs over MIMs....hope you don't mind sharing your thoughts!

Just kind of wondering if it's for the same reason....

well, last time when i just started playin bass,i heard bout fender's reputation, people boast bout the feel of fender's instrument, the whole talking bout fender really got me interested, really really interested...
as my budget was less than 1k that time and i didnt know that MIJ fender do exist [ok, kill me]...i decided to go to sweelee to check it out, that time i already had a bass which is yamaha bb404...
tried the mexican fender, the first time i try it, i was like 'shit, how come fender like this one'... i went home and try to consult myself, maybe im still a noob, perhaps it is good and it takes time for me to get used to the feel of fender...
then the 2nd time i came to sweelee after few months, tried the same bass again, awww, the instrument really horrible,my yamaha has much" better neck and setting compared to that fender and it cost like $1100 bfore discount...there's no way that im gonna fork out my money for that piece of nonsense
untill one day i decided to try the p bass that luther brings in,really fall in love with that piece man,and finally i realised the 'thing' that make fender famous,so i assume that MIM is just not my type of bass,i would put it on the last of my list...with its workmanship and durability, its just piece of nonsense with 'fender' words on it,you pay $800 for it,$600 for the fender decals and 200$ for the rest...
the feel, the quality, the sound, the price, everything that MIJ offer you,it is bloody reasonable...remember,apart from the cute girls, those jappies do produce some serious quality guitar and bass with world class workmanship
ok MIM fanatics, you may flame me now...just stating the facts,MIM's not worth the money...haha

the mexican Fenders have been great since they phased out poplar. the 60th Anniversary p-bass is a reputable bass per se.
