Hi,
I have been following these posts. Whether Guitar Connection (GC) is right or wrong depends. I am not making a conclusion here but perhaps trying to save some ass.
Though Allparts are licensed to manufacture Fender parts, it does not give them (Allparts) the rights to put the Fender Logo when selling in the open market. It depends on the contract between them and Fender.
Whether GC has the rights to put the decal on the Allparts Fender neck depends on whether they have any agreement with Fender. Or it depends on Fender's legal stand on this.
If GC has attained this rights from Fender. Then no prob. If not, mikemann, since you are a friend of GC I think you should ask him to double check with Fender's copyright.
My guess is Fender will not allow this because if they do, we can have Fender MIS (Made in Singapore) or maybe assembled in Singapore will be more appropriate. Similar cases for application : Taiwanese company ASUS manufactures most of the internal components for major PC/Notebook brands like Dell, Toshiba etc. We can get these components in Sim Lim and do some self assembled PC. But we surely cannot assemble them and brand it as Dell or Toshiba etc.
Again, GC right or wrong, I really don't know. Need to find out Fender's copyright stand. So please, don't throw anything at me.
Cheers!
