I am the other guy who cheated by justin...

when i said he was sold to me a fake guitar..

then he asking me back

"how do i know you are not replaced that guitar" :D

then "Ehm..... i don't know (*ok la so there no point to continue :D)"

I am know fender and i am play with it almost 5 years...

but it's my mistake im not cheking carefully, i just trust the seller
who look like a nice guy :D

but the key here is NEED TO DEAL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

Deal is deal whatever is good or bad deal

Going to make police report?
Ehm... actually there is no black/white note here (like was TS told me)
so police report will be only report without strong evident there.

better if i write something usefull for all of us like:
HOW TO KNOW YOUR FENDER IS FAKE OR ORIGINAL

(even i know the differences i still got cheated :p)

still manage to wrote it coz my english is not good :D
ah ts can i take a picture of your guitar to wrote this article?
maybe this will usefull also for all of us :D

Cheers,
Laxs

Our police will say it's a "non-sizeable" offence and then go back to sleep.

Ok...seriously, there's nothing much you can do already. As said before, just make a police report, and hope for the best. But thanks for the warning about crooks like Justin. He already incurred bad karma which will be returned back to him in future.

Strongly agreed. I've seen this happen in many much more serious cases too. But i won't go deeply into these.

The fact of the matter is, if they know that you don't have money to engage a lawyer to pursue the case, they'll either say "non-sizeable offence" or "lack of evidence for conclusion" and close case.

good that the rest of soft is alerted.

I can see lots of differences

- Tuners are different.
- Neck plate - why is there a plastic backing underneath
- Body wood looks like basswood or agathis
- No serial no.
- neck color looks off.

no case candy...many tell-tale signs.

Just pointing these out because the seller can just start a new nick/hp no etc. The best way is for softies to learn how to tell the diff...

I agree. That is very true!

Actually i saw the post before. I suspected a rat cause of the price and conditions on the post. could not do much to help without the reply button and did not want to report as it was just a hunch.

Disturbing to see more scams and fake stuff around here.
even more disturbing that there are softies who fell prey to these ppl.

I suggest please just make a police report. One or two cases, they may not take real action but there could be more out there and when there is a trend, some action will be taken. Police statisticians are sharp with numbers I'm sure.

I was hit once too over yahoo auction but was quite happy with the replica guitar (I paid $150 only for the auction - the guitar quite beat up), I sanded off the decal and retransform it into a project with all parts intact.

He can change his nick anytime. You should also display his HP number. Although he still can change his number, it will be more troublesome. And if you've his address, put it here also...see if he wants to change house.

I hope some of us realises that this is a problem that COULD have been prevented if users were able to respond to ads. The more experienced guys would have been able to question the seller and 2 buyers COULD have been spared from this situation.

Again, poor decision making on the part of forum admins that has allowed such problems to escalate.

The police SHOULD look into this case as it is a case of FRAUD.

When you lodge your police report, talk to a regular not some NS guy who went through a crash course in criminal procedures during training.

+1

This current fake guitar scam is not the first and will not be the last. However, potential scams can be prevented or reduced by vigilant and knowledgeable softies. Past incidents had proven that. And this "cavaet emptor" warning/disclaimer can only go so far.....and doesn't do much to solve the problem.

Maybe the admin should consider.....is "security and prevention of fraud" is of lesser importance than "keeping those pesky flame wars out"? Well, cause and effect.....

The effect of the former - The victim loses his/her money or hard-earned savings to a fraud. The scammer becomes bolder. The forum attracts more people like him.

The effect of the latter - The thread just gets longer as everybody joins in to have their say. The poor admin got to do extra work by locking the thread.

Hmmm....decisions....decisions.
