Falling US dollar = better buys!! Post your items!

gblues,

your es-135 looks good, how did you get it at such a good price?

i bought it off a guy with good rep at the Gear Page. he sent it to my fren's place in NYC and my parents are picking it up for me when they go there.
he sent very detailed pix and everything looks okay. have played a few es135s to know that they dont vary *too* much.

anyone saw this beauty on ebay? Look totally awesome to me, like to share with you all hehe. although abit pricey . . the auction ending in 1hour time, i believe the seller will up it again, maybe at a lower price

I always though the normal es335 look great until i see this

this is just plain sex!

nope, both alder with figured maple top.

solid body flame maple top is only 1/8" thick so more cosmetic than anything else

hollowbody is a 1/4" wild maple top.

I'd stain the back with a darker stain and leave the top natural, maybe will stain that flame maple with the dark stain too and sand down to accentuate the flame and then a light coat of amber. lets see about it. The wild maple top may just go natural.

if i can get minwax rub on polyurethane then it'll go on there... if not the the usual Danish Oil rub a dub dub.

You might not want to the stain the maple top...

you're going to use Tru Oil right? It changes colour over time... in a very nice, organic, warm way. ( i can't believe a finish nailed the perfect tone combination! )

Basically, you remember my pictures of my USACG with tru oil? The colour has "aged" to a more honey golden shade. Mine is a quilted wild maple top, and the way the Tru Oil finish has aged, its like, the lighter parts of the quilt have not really changed but the rest of the standard maple has darkened more. More 3D. :D

nah... can't get the Tru Oil plus I've manage to get the right technique that I'm happy with for applying Danish Oil. So Danish oil it'll be till I pop over Handyman Store or something like that at Lido Scotts. They carry Minwax products and I'm keen on using the waterbased Rub on PolyU.

Staining the top is still an option cos I really don't wanna have 3 guitars with plain oiled finish. That'll be boring as hell but then I "heard" they is tellings me hell ain't that boring....

thanks to the low US $, here's my new additions to the arsenal! :D
