I currently run gigs and instrument rental now. What the best advice you can give if i want to record from my mixer? I want to record such that i have indivdual track so i edit every single track through pro tools. Budget below 1k.
2) make sure your mixer has individual outputs then.
3) zoom r24.although a zoom r16 is enough (i'm using this) but it's discontinued already. any other audio interface that has 8 inputs like presonus / maudio etc. www.echoaudio.com has reliable drivers.
But let's say I am recording a 16 channel live band. I must have 16 invidivual output? Woah. that's not on my mackie i think. so the audio interface i have must have 16 channel too? Any good mixer with 16 channel output too? thank bro.
I was using a https://www.google.com.sg/search?q=alesis+studio32 10 years ago. observe the images and the individual outputs on the back. this was before audio interfaces+onboard preamps was the norm, so I was using this as preamp + line out into my audio interface Echo Audio Layla24.
if your focus is Live use FIRST + THEN multitrack audio recording, you're gonna need a heavier duty all in one solution other than a "zoom r16/r24"
forgot to mention if you're recording a 16 channel live band, and only have 8 inputs, you can opt to use submixers but that should compromise the control of tracks during mixing stage.
