Expensive Drum sound from my cheap $600 kit!

Guys, check this out...i did a quick recording with the Peace Legion kit...Cheap kit, but check out the sound of this baby! All stock skin except for snare...I had the skin changed to my old remo fibreskin that was sitting on my bookcase. Recorded without any effects!

i helped a student get a tama imperialstar the other day, although its pretty entry-level stuff (poplar or basswood i recall) after tuning and playing awhile, its got a nice sweet tone, a bit of that 复古 (retro) sound... heh...

watched the video and i would say.... WOW! the tom has very nice "thum" sound... im surprised as u only use the stock head for the toms. May i know what sizes are those?

Hey, no lah...i was testing the video quaity of my new phone...its a sony ericsson W850i....but I used 3 SM57s to capture the drum sound...by the way, no muffling was done...everything was captured raw.

They're fusion sizes (10 X 9, 12 X 10, 14 X 14, 20 X 16 and 14 X 5 steel snare). Yup, the sound of the kit is good, definitely the best in its price range. Pedal is not that great though, but what can u expect for just a mere $590...

haha...of course lah...the whole point was to show the sound quality of the drums....the phone mics cannot do the job....but I was hoping for better vid quality tho...crap phone...haha

nope...its made of either basswood or mahogany.

Hahaha Avin thats the kit I'm using at your place when I'm having my lesson...correct?...Yes it's a very beautiful sounding kit.....and the toms looks like deeper than he norm I think...like they have more depths..

Yup, thats the one....the toms are a little deeper cos I think this is a left over stock....the usual depth is 8 and 9" for the rack toms.
