but i remember reading in some book BB King doesnt cut his strings ....
in fact he winds them all round (wonder how he does dat on the low E string), says it gives better tone and stays in tune better.
duno true anot ~
i also believe so... but of course i dun wind my whole wound strings la... like at least cut a bit... then wind the rest of the lot...

as for treble strings, i leave them all there... good arm excercise!!! lol

haaha i dont cut my strings...i wind the excess into a circle..loop it round and round... haha...so when break, just untie the circle and restring!

Fixed...
like the vintage strat type ...~

Where do you break your string can untie and restring one? You weld them back together ah?

it is true that if you don't cut it and wind it at least a few turns it helps keep your guitar stay in tune very much better especially for floyd rose guitars........due to the ability to handle more tension during string bendings and all......

if it breaks at the bridge (normally the case for me)

you know the little round thing at the end of the string ? (the part you'd cut off for older floating bridges)

cut off the broken string from the "ball"
unwind the excess "loops" at the headstock,
pull the string thru the hole of that "ball" ...
den twist it so that the string inter-twines and that the "ball" is secure ...

den re-string like normal ...

so simple ~ :)

Usually when u guys do restringing, about how muchdo u push thru e macnine heads b4 u all start winding up? How much allowance shudn there be?

ok first pull the string all the way thru the posts, then pull out around 1 inch of clearance.. it shud be enough.. you dunt want to overwind the strings..

Hmmm.... if tuning isn't supposed to go off easily... why does it take a while to season it? ;) Could it be the excess string slipping thru?

WOW ..
yeah .. could you pls show us ...~!
It'd be great ~!

flash_tay: doing so would be inconsequential on a floyd rose guitar equipped with locking nuts. Once you lock the nut, everything behind it is taken out of the equation.
