Congrate, our little Drumming Prodigy (a Mapex Endorsee In China) Ethan Ong on his WIN here In China – “Qingdao Talent Contest”
His performance of Casiopea’s Mid Manhattan and a 3-minutes Drum Solo beat over a dozen junior Drummers from All Over China, Making him the Winner of the only Gold Medal in his Category.
He is now studying at American International School of Guangzhou, and as the papers says “He is a regular kid at heart” which is very very true.
I’ve (RD) actually met Ethan a couple of times and had spoken to him each time I met him - - - a very nice, loveable and humble kid.
Ethan love Science and drums, but he said to the Reporter – “I rather play drums than be a Scientists”
Ethan is now in China, because his Dad Mr Bernard Ong was posted to work in China (a General Manager of EXXON Chemical) and that they will be there for 3 yeas.
Ethan also recently did an Opening Act for Drum Maestro/Artists “Steve Smith” at the Drum Show in Guangzhou……and
Ethan next gig will be in October (that is next month) at the Shanghai Music Show, along side famed Drum Artists such as Akira Jimbo (his Idol I believed) and Marco Minnieman.
Marco Minneman Clinic in Singapore - 16th October (Thursday), 7.30pm, Jubilee Hall, Raffles Hotel, S$20 for (Yamaha Students & Yamaha Music Card Holder) & S$25 for (Public).
In fact, Ethan was invited to be part of a Nationwide TV Show, but his mother Christina Lim turn down the offer because Ethan would have to miss more classess then.
In November this year – Ethan and his younger brother Noah (6yrs old) will be back to Singapore to support ChildAid, An Annual Children Charity Concert organized by The Straits Times and The Business Times. We can catch Ethan here – my Bros and sis.
