Essential mods for the guitar?

Hmmm... regarding the Blender option, I've read reviews with people saying that although you can use the blender the get everything in between, the difference is very minimal and very close to what your pickup selector does already...

There's got to be a review on this!!!! 8)

JMGuitar - The Blender idea sounds cool. Unfortunately for me, I only have 2 knobs on my Washburn. :( Not willing to sacrifice my tone pot yet...

my G&L is the same ... but has a 2-way switch to add in the neck PU to all settings.

Shred, ur welcome to try my G&L, pickups are changed to Kinmans, and the Neck PU is added 100% to any settings, but conceptually is farily similar.

I thought the blender is nice for times, when 100% of Neck PU is not required.

Like when I just need to dial in a hint of mellowness (firm neck) into a certain setting.

One of my fav settings, is having all 3 SCs in series .... it sounds like a loud aggressive humbucker. lol.

Varitone circuit you'll need a BIG inductor and its very difficult to find one that size in the open market. I've gone thro that route before and its pretty frustrating then.

Now I'm not sure whether you can adapt a dunlop fasel to suit the circuit. Some calculation is needed as the dunlops are only 500mH.

Wow, thanks for the offer Edder... hmmm... why don't you post a clip of the blender in action? ;)

huh? did i offer anything?

and did I mention that I have the blender circuit on any of my guitars?

hmmmmmmmmm........... I only offered information for those who were thinking of going thro making a varitone themselves.

curious you are... hmmm...

oh that said... there maybe an inductor suitable for use and its available from Bill Lawrence. Its called the Q-filter inductor. No I don't have any in stock.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! So sorry Edder!!
Hahahaha!!! I was referring to JMguitars!

WAHHHH... I really should stop staying up so late! ;)

Roland ready? Sounds like a midi output guitar. You can play normal guitar but the output is in midi... so effective you can play a flute patch with your guitar. Or a piano. Anything. ;)

I guess those controls are for that?

Hmmm... I don't think its necessary unless you jump/move around a lot. I've gone thru Dunlop, Schaller and Dimarzio straplock systems and in the end, I realised that personally, I don't need it... I strap my guitar high up like a jazz guitarist, it don't move around much.. and my strap has genuine harden leather... I figured that this wouldn't get soft for some time and when it does, I'll simply change it. ;)

But in anycase, for those who move around much... I reccommend the Dimarzio Cliplock system. Its noiseless and very very secure. I mean, Vai prances around with it! Only bad thing is that it can't go very short, which is why I couldn't use it.

The Dunlop and Schaller straplocks are secure, the Dunlop being more secure IMO... but both make noise when the strap moves.. this noise is easily picked up by pups esp on higher gain settings... thats my I stopped using them.

I cen't believe no one mentioned installing straplocks for your babies...

i use the planet waves straps with the locks on them... so i wouldn't mod the guitar there... haha.
