Doode, Les Paul was a jazz guitarist. He made the Les Paul with the intention to play jazz... If it's good for Al Di Meola to use for his fusion jazz, it's good for me.

The Allman Brothers dip into country and folk in their sets. I see them using Les Pauls as well...

The Les Paul is prolly built for everything but for disco... For disco, one will have to use an Explorer, just like Earth, Wind, Fire!!! Yay!

this is a painful pick, yes? loving both, choosing one... there are merits to the discussions here, of course, ignore the descants...

1. It is rather pointless pitting a solid-body unit against another which isn't. so the learned choice here would be to go with the tone & playability, rather than pitting the physical aspects of these guitars. bottom line: pick the one you like hearing & pleasing to play.

2. Tone considerations: which of the 2 appeal to you, nevermind if they sound different.

3. Perhaps the critical factor: does it serve your needs?

If you think you can acquire the other guitar some time later, do choose the one you fancy now.
