i bought a mxr 6-band off some few months back to help myself cut thru during solos, and thought the pedal did that really well. and i recently obtained a mxr cae line driver to do the same thing as the 6-band, so my 6-band is pretty much retired.

but i find that after taking the 6-band off my effect chain, my tone suddenly seem alot hollower, not shaped and tight at all. any idea why?

or would u guys suggest i out my 6-band back in and use another eq setting?

Probably your EQ pedal is buffered or you're used to the EQ sound. Not very clear as to when you feel it's hollow sounding.

Introduce a buffer pedal or EQ back.

yeah I'd hazard a guess that you're too used to the eq'd sound. So try doing without it for another session or two, and if you're really missing the tone, then switch back or try fitting it in your current chain
