Epiphone guitars

How is it better? Curious.. Read alot about it but as always never had the $$ to buy and try...

from a user's perspective, i find the Alnico II Pro a very just pickup for those who are into more midrange warmth, nothing excessive like the Duncan JB. the AIIP also has enough bass to propel guitars which are lacking in this aspect. i find it very rewarding in the neck. although this humbucker is targetted at players who in the blues-crunch territory, IMO it's good for everything else as well.

ok..if u wanna be fussy about it...Slash uses those pickups! :p but seriously, whenever i mention the words SD Alnico II, Slash's name comes in automatically. Even the auntie at Davis told my friend that before, haha. Well probably because Slash has been to Davis before to endorse some stuff and for an autograph sesssion. Hmm.. Slash seems to like Singapore, he was here quite some time back at HRC (Hard Rock Cafe), and no one recognized him at that time cos he tied his hair up. LoL..

Slash was at Davis?? more like the Davis people met him at NAMM...

nothing wrong with the Alnico-Slash association, but it restricts the pickup's reputation in a hard-rock territory which is a little sad. the Alnico II Pro is capable of handling various tonal requirements, form jazz to metal.

i agree with subversion.........but i think most people go for it due to the fact that slash uses it....

it's the same reason why people are after Les Pauls & Marshalls as well- Slash... i've nothing against this capable player by the way.

Hmm

Hi subby,

Alnico II Pro fitted on both neck & bri wld be nice, but how abt a '59/JB combi? What is your take on it?

I am mainly in rock, if not hard rock & abit of rock'n'roll & blues.

yes, it's true, Slash was at Davis. There was a looong queue for his autograph, from the basement of peninsula all the way past funan centre, haha. too bad i wasn't there! argh! by the time i rushed down, he was already gone :( there are a few photos displayed at Davis which shows that Slash was there. janet, his daughter, posed and took a pic with him too, lucky gal! the photos are displayed above the door frame of davis i think..

Hmm

Slash rocks my sock!! Wished I was there with Slash on my 1 side & Janet on the other side *in lala land!*

sigh, i wish i was there too.. i grew up listening to GN'R and i missed this chance.. sad. i really hope that velvet revolver will get to play here one day.. keep praying :smt091

Yea i got slash's pickups. hahaha

I was considering a 59 in the neck but it was a bit to bright for me.

I don't think my epi lp classic does justice to the pups but it still sounds warm to me.

waiting to buy a tokai LS120 and stick those suckers in! come on davis! bring one in for me to try! hahaha

epiphone's don't come with p-90s right........only the gibson custom authentic series come with p-90s....that's a 56' les paul goldtop i think

epiphone does come with p90. Same as Gibson, the 56 goldtop model.

epi LP 100 doesnt look like LP because of the ugly dots inlays, and also less features, such as the knobs

Hmm

Les Paul 100 doesnt booze as well as Les Paul Std & its clearly seen in Les Paul Std's belly

Les Paul 100 is I tink a rip off from Les Paul Std.
