Definitely, from what I saw 85% of the users of Epi LP says they are great.

65% of testers say they got bad QC.

Epi LPs being great & having QC issues depends on the individual guitars per se. the level of production of these guitars aren't too meticulous to begin with so if there is any perception to judge these guitars in general, it's too simplistic to be true.

there is a general notion that korean Epi LPs are 'better' than the chinese make- this is again a general perception. in any case, do not be too detered by the country of origin, inspect the guitar & judge it in its own right. i've come across some chinese units which are worth every cent its asking price.

if you are keen on Epi LPs, i'm renewing my recommendation for the following 2 models:

*Zakk Wylde (any version)
*Boneyard

True, sub.. Actually recently came across some threads that people tested MIC ones are even better than MIK ones..

And "rumours" says even though Epiphone got cheaper labour in China, they use better woods there.. well overall it leaves the user to speak for himself..


*Actually I don't doubt epiphone that much, its great to have cheap LP anyway.

the chinese are using a more defined flame top for their Standard Plus, which makes a difference.

i read in anthr forum tt the body of epi LPs r made of 'a sandwich of mahogany with alder in between' while gibson LPs r made of solid mahogany,hence epi LPs dont sound like original LPs...

Guess this is what you get is what you pay.

However it is sad to see there aren't any good mid priced ( Around 800-1000?) LP

( Tokai LS70 is $14xx, edwards is $1200.. )
